I know God is laughing at me today. Probably a pretty good chuckle, too. I told him of my plans for my business- how much money I will be making, what type of employees will be working for me, and how much fun I will be having speaking and writing. I commented on how clients will receive the relief and motivation they need to make changes to experience a wonderful life. I expressed to Him how my relationships are growing and blossoming, how I feel confident and courageous in both my personal and business growth. And how much I love my beautifully decorated, freshly cleaned home.
He snickered not because I told him my plans but because my vision is so puny compared to His. I may not have any or all of those things yet. Some of them are just a wish. Courageous? Always. Confident? Not always. It looks like it snowed in the living room as the dogs just disemboweled a stuffed toy. And there are still pictures to hang- received as gifts last Christmas.
The saying, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans” is true. But maybe He is not laughing because we should not have expectations for our lives; maybe He chortles because we can have and deserve so much more.
Make God laugh today.
