Now you must be wondering what is so special about this man so as to gain such a special status. He is considered the father of the nation because of his immense contribution to the independence of India. He was one of those great leaders from whom even the Britishers were afraid of.

He was thrown out of the train because he refused to give up his seat in the white compartment. From there he got the inspiration to fight for the rights of India and he dreamt of Independent India. He never believed in fighting with violence, non-violence was his greatest weapon. We can take the example of Salt march of 1930, he led a group of protestors and walked approximately 240 miles to the Arabian Sea to take a handful of salt from the brackish water. This peaceful act got India its independence.

We are freely living in the country and are not slaves anymore just because our great leaders suffered a lot in the past.

2ndOctober is observed as a national holiday every year. Private companies mark this as a holiday or do some charity stuff for the public in remembrance of Gandhiji. Gandhi Jayanti's Assembly in School takes place depicting the story of Mahatma Gandhi and how he contributed to India's independence. All the government offices, banks, and postal services are generally closed today but most of the schools celebrate this by organizing cultural functions, debates, quizzes, etc. on the life and history of Mahatma Gandhi.

It is known that he was the epitome of truth and non-violence. Adopting his nature will surely take us far in life. Like him, we all should try to maintain peace and fight against all the wrong.
