If you are a lover of nature then book your VILLAS IN ALICANTE province in the little village of Cabo de San Antonio. This will give you access to one of the most beautiful natural parks along the coast, the Macizo de Montgo. With 20.92 square kilometres of countryside situated in the Marina Alta comarca of Alicante province, taking in part of the municipalities of Javea and Denia will give you more than enough room to explore to your heart’s content.
This area represents what we perceive as virgin countryside or as it appeared before the advent of the tourist trade. This area is easily accessible from either Javea or Denia. This area received its natural park status in 1987 which was mainly due to the 600 species of wild flowers of which many are indigenous to this area.
There is something else located here that is just as important, a massif covering more than 2,000 hectares with a height of 753 metres. This area also includes rock formations, caves, cliffs and natural harbours. The promontory of planes referred to as just Les Planes extends down from Cabo de San Antonio whose derivation is that of Saint Anthony. There is also a 14th century hermitage dedicated to the saint as well so, when you are out exploring, visit the ruins of the sacred building on the cape.
If you happen to be interested in ornithology you will have a field day in this park which has a rather large number of marine birds such as the yellow footed gull, Audouin’s gull and Patiamarilla gull along with the sandwich tern. Along with the different species of marine birds are birds of prey including four owl species and four hawk species which breed in the park. Then there are the Perdicera Eagles, Buzzards, Eleanora Falcon and a short toed eagle all of which are believed to breed in the park but as of yet there is no proof.
Make sure you are physically fit enough to climb to the top which is 753 metres tall but don’t worry if you are not as there is a lot on the lower level routes that you will find interesting. One trail leads you to an area of disused old windmills that cease to operate in 1911; from there you have a scenic view over the town of Javea.
The purpose of your sojourn when booking your VILLAS IN ALICANTE may be a holiday or a business trip; it really doesn’t matter because when you take a walk through this splendid countryside with the clean air everything else seems redundant. As you journey upward pass the flowers of yellow, purple, pink and white along the track you will begin to realize how beautiful this place is: it’s all here waiting for you to come and explore.
