Self control is never talked about much in this society, but it is
necessary in order to be a success in life. We must master self
control techniques and learn how to apply them to our lives. This is
not optional for success it is a must. I can name several areas in
my own life where I had to learn how to apply self control to help
me to do better in life.

One of those areas was fiscal responsibility. I used to spend every
dime that I had in my pocket whenever I went shopping. I realized
that I had a problem and I had to come up with a solution. My solution
was to leave all but a few dollars at home whenever I went out. If I
had specific plans I learned to take only enough to cover those plans.
I tried this a few times but learned that I had to also leave my
credit cards at home. This worked very well for me and after months
of doing it I found that I could exercise the control needed to not
spend every dime that I had in my pocket.

After a period of time I found that I could begin to take my money
with me again. Now I don't have that problem. I have to learned to
exercise control over my shopping impulses.

This is just one example but you can take it and apply it to every
area of your life. Self discipline/self control is absolutely mandatory
