The medical college was originally started as an India Medical School and was converted into the College of Indian Medicine and started imparting an integrated medical course (MBBS Degree) in 1960. The medical college was recognized as a Women Medical College and was named as a Government Kilpauk Medical College in the year 1965.
The medical college started offering PG Medical Courses from 1970. Undergraduate Medical Admission Process
Eligibility Criteria

• Completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of MBBS admission.
• Passed HSC examination (Academic Stream of 10+2 curriculum) of any State/CBSE/ISC or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with the group of subjects like - English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany & Zoology) / Biotechnology and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying Entrance Exam.
