From childhood, many of us have been taught to recite the Hanuman Chalisa seeking strength, protection and blessings of Lord Hanuman. According to the Hindu doctrines, Lord Hanuman is the faithful servant of Lord Sri Rama, and is the Lord of the eight siddhis and nine nidhis. In other words, Lord Hanuman has the power not only to fulfill our material needs and desires but can also grant us exceptional power and protection from all harm. Further, Lord Hanuman is a Brahmachari too, and hence is ardently worshipped by those who wish to follow the path of Brahmacharya (celibacy).

But does that mean that one who worships Him fails in the matter of love? Let us find out!
According to the scriptures, all deities, Gods and Goddesses have certain special powers and are responsible to help their worshippers in some specific ways. For instance, if one wants help in the field of learning, one prays to Goddess Saraswati; and if one is beginning a new venture, worshipping Lord Ganesha helps remove all the obstacles on their path. The result of our worship primarily depends on the kind of intention with which we pray. However, there is no kind of negative consequence of worshipping or praying to any of these deities.

Therefore, while the chanting of Hanuman Chalisa can and will provide strength to practice Brahmacharya to those who specifically desire such result, it will never create problems in matters of love to those who do worship him but have no intention to practice celibacy.

Some people do claim that they face problems in relationships when they chant the Hanuman Chalisa. However, there is actually no cause-effect relation between the former and the latter. It is not because they chant the Chalisa that they face problems; in fact it is simply a coincidence that they happen to pray to Lord Hanuman on one hand and on the other hand they fail to succeed in matters of love. There is no direct causal relationship between the two. To understand this further, we must understand the law of karma.

Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, while explaining the law of karma, states that the events of this life are determined by the karmic records of the previous life. This means it is our past karmas which decide whether or not we shall be successful in finding true love; or even the kind of partner we like to have in this life. To like to worship Lord Hanuman too is a mere effect of our previous karma.

Thus, to conclude:
While it is true that chanting the Hanuman Chalisa everyday can strengthen the intent of practicing Brahmacharya for those who seek such an outcome; it will never cause any hurdles in you getting the person you love, or in fulfilling your wishes related to love or relationships.

So, rest assured, you may pray to Lord Hanuman or chant the Hanuman Chalisa every day with a free mind, expressing all your love, faith and reverence for this special God; and you may ask Him for blessings to find the right Guru as He did in the form of Lord Rama, and strength to render loyal and sincere service to this Guru with complete surrender, as Him!!
