NEW HORIZONS, DISTANT POSSIBILITIES

What does it take to get to the very top…in sport and in life?

Firstly, the “C’s”:

# Challenge: The challenge: to test yourself from a young age… to the absolute limits

# Concentration and Focus
# Clarity of mind: “Rossi knows exactly what he’s doing. He thinks and uses his
reason.”

bike. Because the guy who wins in this sport is rarely the bravest. It’s usually the one who knows his limits, who can judge what is possible and what is

# Consistency and fluency in their styles of racing.

Strength and Stamina

Supreme fitness, both physical and mental in the form of strength, stamina, exceptional reaction times, concentration are all pre-requisites for a top rider (and F1 driver).
Moto GP riders and racing drivers have something different in the brain, because they have to be quick, clever, able to react instantly and to make split-second decisions. The driver is different from other athletes in that he has the capacity to take control of many things and make decisions in the precise time.
# Hard work has to be put in to achieve ultimate success, (nio matter how talented the person may be).

# Champions have a sense of mission (“apostolic”), a unique destiny: a continual quest for self improvement, perfection of technique. Eg.
“My riding style matured in 1998.” – Valentino Rossi, champion motor-cycle racer (and perhaps the greatest rider of them all)

# Vision

# Passion: “You feel you have a passion for riding a racing bike…from deep within. Some people have it, some people don’t.”

Persistence: Champions all have huge doses of Persistence:
“It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs
to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again,

# TALENT and most importantly, FAITH (absolute) in your “God-given” abilities

# The WILL TO WIN to win: “I always try very hard.”

True champions, like a Valentino Rossi are able to find a new level (of performance) – when required, they have the ability to “dig deep” and find something very special inside themselves
And finally,

* While each of these elements above need to be present (in various dosages in drivers), these character traits are all inter-related. So ALL the ‘ingredients’
have to work in true harmony to reach the very top and so cultivate a true champion.

And each ONE of us can all learn from these supreme champion riders, like Valentino Rossi.
