When you reach a state whereby you feel that you have absolutely nothing to lose you are in that moment empowered. It is ironic that you only reach this state of freedom and empowerment once you think that you have lost that which you previously thought mattered to you.

As you feel your desires, goals and wishes slipping away from your grasp, your mind somehow expands and opens to alternate ways of thinking. This happens in a whole array of circumstances.

In a relationship, when you think that you have lost your partners love you can find yourself willing to make compromises which were until then unthinkable. In playing a sport like golf, if you have given up hope of winning you can find yourself playing more freely and naturally and thereby hitting amazing shots. In business you can again find yourself working in an entirely different manner once you reach a state whereby you have stared loss directly in the face.

If you watched the movie "The Kings Speech" you will see enacted by Colin Firth many different examples of the King overcoming preconceived ideas and conventions as he reaches different moments when he felt that he had absolutely nothing to lose.

The King becomes open to visiting the offices of the speech therapist instead of the speech therapist having to visit the Palace. He overcomes his reluctance to talk about his childhood and upbringing. He allows himself to be spoken to in ways that would otherwise have been thought of as inappropriate. He become willing to defend his therapists lack of official qualifications when faced with his advisors abject disapproval.

The King felt he had nothing to lose in each of these instances. He had to make speeches and it was imperative that he found a way to overcome or at least manage his stutter. And so he allowed himself to hope and to believe in a cure, no matter how unorthodox that method might be. As you know, it did indeed work.

The fact is that the greater you allow yourself to hope and to believe in something the more likely it is to work. When you approach something with an attitude of doubt and just try it to see if it might work, your own attitude is setting yourself up for failure. Unfortunately, we humans frequently find ourselves doing this, albeit unconsciously.

We would benefit from learning to identify the times when we are acting in this way and to intentionally "spruce up" our attitudes. We should not have to wait until that last moment of inevitable loss to suddenly make a "last ditch" effort. We should always apply 100% effort. If you make a decision to try something then you should always give it a real chance and not just a half-hearted one.

Hypnosis is a very useful tool to use when you want to take a step back and see things in a more positive and empowering light. Ironically most people actually approach hypnosis itself in a rather fearful, doubtful and half-hearted manner. This is a very great shame, for the reasons stated above.

But, if you are willing to give 100% to the application of hypnosis you will see how incredibly useful and beneficial it is. With hypnosis you can access your subconscious mind as well as your conscious mind. Hypnosis also opens up your creative ability. You can embed new thoughts and beliefs in your subconscious with the help of hypnosis. You can pave your way to success as you get your imagination working to really see the results that you would like to experience.
