Lungs are the source of respiration in human beings. They come under the respiratory system. Respiratory diseases are very common these days. They can arise due to a problem with our respiratory system, which includes our respiratory tract, lungs. The main reason for respiratory disease is due to narrowing of the airway pathway, resulting in difficulty in breathing.

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease in which narrowing of the airway occurs, leading to obstruction and difficulty in breathing. When the imbalance occurs between these three energies, the disease occurs. Due to vitiated Kapha, obstruction in the airway occurs, which causes narrowing of the windpipe, and resulting in Asthma.

Asthma mainly occurs due to vitiated Kapha, when excessive Kapha deposits in the airways, it results in asthma. When we take food which containing an excessive amount of Vata and Kapha, asthma occurs. Due to which obstruction to airways occurs and the person feels difficulty in breathing. Excessive cold, air pollution can also trigger this condition. Asthma can also occur if the mother smokes at the time of pregnancy. According to Ayurveda, asthma can occur due to two reasons, they are -
