The article discusses the procedure of fixing the error code 7 in Windows 7. The error code 7 or ERROR_ARENA_TRASHED (The storage control blocks were destroyed) can occur due to many reasons. These include missing or damaged configuration settings, malware infections, unresolved host file, invalid registry keys\entries, and damaged or outdated drivers among others. The error code 7 can lead to system hang, slow down, or crash among other severe problems.

In order to save you from facing these problems, we have brought a list of few methods that are simple and reliable. However, it is recommended that these should be followed carefully to avoid facing problems. It will save your time and precious money that would undeniably be wasted searching for Microsoft help or Microsoft Windows 7 support options.

Download and install latest windows updates. Open Windows Update utility in your computer and start updating Windows. It will take some time, so wait until all the updates have been duly downloaded and installed. When finished and prompted, reboot your computer. When it has rebooted fully, check if the error has been fixed or not. If not, proceed to the next step.

Download PC Cleaner Pro from Microsoft’s official website or a random but safe one. Click the Save File button to save the file. Choose a location or otherwise it will be automatically downloaded to the Downloads folder. When done, browse to the location and double click on the PC_Cleaner_Pro.exe file. Hit the Run button to initiate the install procedure. Follow the on screen instructions and complete installation.

When finished. Double click on the PC Cleaner Pro icon to open and start the repair procedure. It will automatically scan for all the errors. Click on the Fix All button to fix all the errors. Wait until the error is being repaired. You will see a message similar to successfully repaired etc.

If the issue still persists, then click on the Start menu and go to Command Prompt. If you don’t see the Command Prompt icon, then type ‘cmd’ without quotes in the Start Search menu and hit Enter on the keyboard. It will bring up the black Command Prompt window. Type ‘bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no’ (without quotes) and then hit the Enter key. This command can only be used when you have only one operating system viz. Windows 7 installed on your computer. It will not work on multiple operating systems. When done giving the command, reboot your computer so as to let the changes take place.

If the issue still continues, then download and run a registry cleaner tool. You can choose a free or paid tool like RegCure Registry Cleaner and PC Health Advisor among others. Save the file and then run it to start the installation (see above if you need help on how to save and install of a file). When finished, open the tool and run a scan for missing or corrupted registry keys. When done, click on the Fix or whatever button you see there to fix the displayed errors. If prompted, reboot your computer.

Scan your computer for viruses, spyware, or other malware infections. Open your antivirus program, update it by clicking on the Update button, wait for the updates to be downloaded and fully installed, and then run a full system scan. Wait while the program scans for malicious programs and prompt you for a confirmation to delete them.

Additional Tips:

The methods explained above are a few among the easiest methods to resolve this problem. These methods don’t require you to be computer geek. Any user with minimal understanding or saving and running the file can fix the problem on his\her own.
