The foundation of the traditional taxi business industry was shaken when Uber put on its headlights with their Taxi Booking App and its fleet of taxis and their drivers on the roads which were frequently traveled by the customers who were looking for a comfortable and convenient ride to their destinations. This propelled the other taxi businesses to go in for a digital revolution like Uber by building a mobile app for their service. If you are such a taxi business who felt the need to develop a service system similar to that of Uber and went on to build a similar Taxi Booking App and put all the requisites in place, it still won’t make a huge difference and help you race ahead of your competition unless and until your target customers know that you exist in the Taxi booking space. Therefore, it is critical for you to market your taxi app and thus your business in such a way that it will catch the customer’s attention and hold it so that you can serve them well and build a name for yourself! So what would you do then? Here are few tips that could help you in this process. • Know Yourself First! The first most important step in this process is to know who you are and where you are. If you are starting out or are already into the taxi business, it is very important for you to know the rules and regulations regarding the taxi business in your place of operation. You might be familiar with them if you are a locality. But if you are an outsider, then taking an initiative to properly understand these rules and regulations will a long way in helping you devise the right marketing strategy as all your decisions must be in compliance with the laws of the land. • Know Your Customers! 1.If you are doing any business, the golden rule is to know your customers thoroughly as it is them whom you are providing your service to and if they are not satisfied with it, your business does not stand a chance to have a bright future. 2.So when you have to market your service, you have to inform and educate your customers why your service is the best for them and how it stands out from your competition. For this, you will have to know where your customers are located. No, the GPS facility in your app, unfortunately, won’t come in handy this time. You need to know what is the right medium to use to connect with your customers. 3.Nowadays, with the digital revolution, everyone is using the internet for updating themselves with information. You must go in for Social media marketing which has become a crucial link between you and your customers. Social Media websites like Facebook, Twitter etc will help you get the word about you out there. Marketing on these sites will help you many folds. You could also go for outdoor advertising like hoardings which display your ads. These could be an easier way to connect with the customers as while they are commuting for their work or for any other purpose, it would catch their eye. 4.Okay so you got the attention of your customers, now what? Now segment them! You need to have a segmentation plan ready for your customers and then promote it using the social medium of communication and other advertising platforms. Segment them depending upon their demographics and thus you will be able to cater to a wider audience. For example, give discounts to senior citizens or students thus the probability of this demographic choosing your service goes higher as their spending capacity is limited as compared to working professionals. Partner with other services like payment gateways like Paytm etc and offer your customers benefits and discounts thus creating interest in their minds. Also collaborating with well known partner brands like these which already have the trust of the customers will portray you as a trustworthy service too. Also tie up with hotels, hospitals, restaurants, bars etc where there is a higher possibility of the customer requiring a taxi. Thus, these places would help in spreading the word about you and bring you into the limelight. These were some methods how you could promote your taxi business. However, at the heart of it should lie a robust service that will help you in making a mark in the hearts of the customers and thus they would keep coming back!
