Many sales people, from those with experience to newcomers to the industry, go to sales seminars hoping to learn the tricks to get rid of the many struggles associated with selling.

The more hopeful amongst them are aiming to find the holy grail of selling techniques which will close every sale in record time. The organisers of these seminars are to blame for making promises that these dreams will be fulfilled but for most of the attendees, after the initial buzz has worn off they find themselves right back, or even further back than they were when they started, and usually quite a bit out of pocket as well.

There is the usual euphoria associated with these events where by the highly skilled speakers whip the crowd up into a frenzy and there by thinking that is anything is possible, maybe next year you will be a millionaire.

Just think for a minute what it would be like to have the same feeling that you get after one of these seminars all of the time, and without spending loads of money but we will get to that later.

Many sales people, probably more than you realise, are struggling to close sales and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. The vast majority of salespeople have experienced this at one time or another. Even the most successful ones in your company will have been there.

But, what is unique about them is, they didn't give up.

They learned what they needed to learn. They realised that motivation is so important but so is the actual sales training.

The training teaches you how to sell, the motivation shows you not to give up when the going gets tough.

So there you have the big difference between sales motivation and sales training.

Motivation, if you are not careful, will leave you. It can ease off and go as fast as it came. But that is fine You must remember that it is vitally important to constantly try and motivate yourself to achieve bigger and better things.

Motivation works but you need to constantly top yourself up with more motivation. I can assure you that it is worth it. It really is.

And every time you top up you get that extra surge again and again. But you must remember that your sales skills must be up there to match your motivation. I agree, if you keep at it without the training you will get the occasional sales.

Perhaps enough to keep you interested. But why not really go for it, with the motivation and the training your sales will know no bounds.

Sales is one of the few professions where there is really no limit on your earning so you really owe it to yourself to really go for it, go on, reach for the stars.
