Why do people gossip? It's maybe because of boredom, they're being mean, they've got nothing to do, or maybe because they do it out of envy--yes, they're torn between admiration and envy, that's why they simply gossip away since they can't do anything about it anyway. From our neighbors outside, our colleagues at work to the famous Hollywood stars, gossiping can be seen as another favorite pastime of everyone. But how about stopping gossip for good?

Here are ways of how to get rid of gossip:

*Try not to watch those gossip TV shows or reading those tabloid magazines, though as entertaining and enjoyable as they may seem. Try to find some other useful alternatives than that.

*Never gossip when your children are around--they may follow you. And if you caught your kids gossiping, tell them it's bad. Tell them to finish their homework instead.

*If you are alone with your spouse, resist the idea of talking about other people's lives, especially what's going on with the neighbors' lives--even the latest about celebrity scandals. Instead, talk about your own lives, how to improve your relationship, etc.

*When you're with your pals, and they're armed with a barrage of gossip with juicy details, change the topic. But don't condemn them either. Never trust a friend who gossips like there's no tomorrow. Who knows, when you're not around, she's also backstabbing you from others.

Gossiping is another form of human vice, but how will we feel if we're at the receiving end? They may say it's just a harmless pastime, but it's anything but. You may destroy other people's lives and reputation for your gossip.
