Your relationship with God will deepen by the act of drawing near to Him through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible. A great way to learn more about God is through daily devotion. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” as it says in James 4:8(NKJV). The verse means what it says when you come near to God, then He will come near to you. In other words, the more you seek God in your life the more He can be found in your life.

Spend Time with GodA heading here

If you are seeking God by devoting time with Him, God will make Himself more known to you. Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)reads, “You will seek Me and Find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.” The more you learn about God the closer you will be to Him. Picture it like a dating relationship, you go on dates to get to know the other person. The act of spending time with your date makes you learn more about them. It is through your time together that you feel closer to them.

God wants to spend time with you. God wants to hear from you. God wants to speak personally to you. A relationship with God turns into more than a dating relationship. A relationship with God is the most important relationship that you will ever have. The Lord sees you, knows you, and loves you! The love that God has for you is unconditional. If you want to grow closer to the Lord, spend time with Him! Seek God with all of your heart.

Make God Priority

Make your time with the Lord a priority. To help you spend more time with God, you can have a set time to devote to Him. Think about your schedule to figure out what works best for you. A few examples can be doing a devotional in the morning, reading a page in the Bible at night before bed, worshipping God on your lunch break, praying in the car on your way to work.

Find what works for your daily schedule. It can be anytime and at different times each day. Just set it on the calendar or make a reminder on your phone, if that is what it takes for you to commit to it. You don’t have to commit hours at a time. You can start with 5 minutes and increase it as time goes by. God loves His time with you. You will love it too because God will show you more of Himself to you through your time with Him.

Write this Bible verse for encouragement on a note, so that you can remind yourself to daily seek God: “You will seek Me and Find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13(NIV) Be sure to put the note somewhere that you can see it every day. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Soon you will feel closer with God from drawing near to Him!
