How to crochet braids
Now that you have all the information about crochet braids, we are going to give a step-by-step guide on how to crochet braids. You might think that the whole process is very complicated at first. However, as you gain more experience through practice this will be definitely very simple.
Step 1: Creating your cornrows
This is the first step where you have to create your cornrows where the extensions will be added. To do this, start by parting your hair. You should start at the back of the head and divide your hair into two sections. You can now use a boar brush to brush your hair. After this clip up the top section of the hair with hair clips.
Now move at the nape of your neck and start a cornrow braid. Move up until you have braided all your hair in one of the sections. As you braid, make sure it’s in a tight zig-zag design. Move to the other section and do the same. You can actually continue with the cornrow until you can connect the two sections. You can connect them together by tying them together.
You can as well continue creating cornrows in small sections on the side and the bottom of your head. You are supposed to repeat this process as many times as possible until you are done braiding the whole head.
Step 2: Crocheting your hair
Now place a crochet hook under your cornrow. The needle part of this hook should be pointing downwards. The next move is to splint the hair you have chosen in half. It’s now time to hook one of the halves into the crochet hook, you should make sure the curl is attached and eventually pull the whole crochet hook up. This is aimed at creating a loop.
What follows is to take half piece of the curl and pull it through the loop that you created above. This should be done until it forms a tight knot. Now tie the both ends of the curl together to form a unified bouncy coil. Repeat this through the length of the cornrow until you cover the whole cornrow with the hair extensions.
Move to the next cornrow and repeat the same until all the cornrows are covered with the hair extensions. For the best looks, you should move from one cornrow to the other as you alternate the color of extensions. Choose the colors you love to add dimension, low lights and highlights. It’s always a good thing to add a different color after every curl for natural highlights.
Step 3: Style
Now that you have done the hardest part of it, you are supposed to finalize by cutting and styling the hair. This will depend on your personal wishes and preferences. I usually recommend trimming out any part of the braided hair that are not uniform. This adds a stylish look to your hair. You also need to get a Mousse that has Baobab and Aragon oil to add to your hair. This product will add shine, curl and volume to your hair. What this means is that you can spread as much as you want, but make sure you muss with your fingers and palms to make sure the foam is completely blended into the curls.
