Suspend disbelief/Extend beliefr
It is said that nature abhors a vacuum and I believe that the same is true of the human mind.

When we suspend disbelief, we have to do it wisely and put something in its place lest we become credulous fools.

So what do we put in place of disbelief? The answer would seem to be obvious: belief. But it has to be belief in the right things.

Let’s face it: there are lots of sheer nonsense, outright lies, and dangerous ideas out there vying for our minds and our allegiance.

Before we can proceed, you need to have it firmly and crystal-clearly in your mind that when I am talking about suspending disbelief, I’m talking about not listening to those naysayers (exte
al or your own internal voices) who say that it might work for some to Think and Grow Rich but it certainly won’t work for you.

And when I say that you have to believe, I don’t mean that you have to believe in everything but that you have to believe in yourself and your ability to make money.

As Napoleon Hill put it:

If the thing you wish to do is right, and you believe in it, go ahead and do it! Put your dream across, and never mind what “they” say if you meet with temporary defeat, for “they”, perhaps, do not know that EVERY FAILURE BRINGS WITH IT THE SEED OF AN EQUIVALENT SUCCESS.

Burning Bridgesr
So dream your dream – commit yourself to a big, hairy, audacious goal – and burn all your bridges behind you.

“What?!” you may be saying. “Burn my bridges? How is that going to get me anywhere?” Please note the propostition “behind”. You must burn your bridges behind you in order to cut off the possibility of retreat. If the only way to go is forward, then you will just have to go forward.

You see, we all want riches. At least all of those who understand the purpose and uses of money wish to have it.
But, as my mother used to say, “If wishes were fishes, we’d have some for supper” (or “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride” – my mother had lots of these “If wishes were…” sayings). The fact of the matter is that wishing alone will NOT bring you the riches you want.

BUT “desiring” riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, (or the possibility of retreat – hence the burned bridges) will bring riches.

The Six Stepsr
There are six steps to this process:
(1) Fix in your mind the exact
amount of money you desire

(2) Determine exactly what you intend to give inrnretu
for the money you desire (there really
is no such thing as “something for nothing”.)

(3) Pick a specific date when you will have the money
you desire

(4) Plan how you are going to get this money and
begin at once, ready or not, to put your plan inrnaction

(5) Write out a clear, concise statement – sort ofrnlike a contract with yourself – of the amount ofrnmoney you will acquire, the time limit for its
acquisition, what you will give in return for the
the money, and the plan by which you will
accumulate it

(6) Read your statement aloud just before you go tornbed at night and the first thing you wake up inrnthe morning. AS YOU READ THE STATEMENT,
SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY
IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.

Of these six steps, the last is the most important. You may have difficulty seeing yourself already in possession of the money even as the debt-collector is stuffing your mailbox, but this is where the BURNING DESIRE comes in.

If you DESIRE the money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, and you are utterly determined to have it, then you should be able to CONVINCE yourself that you
will have it.

Now That Wasn’t So Hard, Was It?
Actually, these six steps are not hard. There is no untoward sacrifice, and you don’t have to become ridiculous or credulous (falling for anything). But you do have to have enough imagination (that’s belief in technicolor Panavision) to understand that you can’t just leave it to chance, luck, or your good looks – you have to dream, wish, hope, DESIRE and plan for what you want.

Sad to say, you can never have riches in great quantities (unless you inherit it) UNLESS “you can work yourself into a white heat of DESIRE for money, and actually BELIEVE you will possess it.
