On the second part of our article on how to wager on horse races, we want to expand on exotic betting types, as when you get to be more familiarized with all of these wagering options, you will automatically increase your chances of obtaining better earnings.

SUPERFECTA: When you play one of these, you will need to pick the four horses which you think will come in first, second, third and fourth, and every chosen horse should finish the race matching the position you chose for each.

DAILY DOUBLE: Here you need to pick the winning horse in 2 consecutive races. You have the option of betting the early doubles, which are the first two races of the day, or the late doubles, which are the last two.

PICK 3: This wagering type is quite similar to the daily double; the only difference is that instead of picking the winning horse in 2 consecutive races, you should do it for 3.

WHEELING HORSES IN EXOTICS: When you apply this to a wager, you need to pick a horse (your wheel) to end the race in a determined position, and multiple horses finishing before or after him. For example, let’s say that we have an exacta with horse 1 and horses 2, 3 and 4. This means that horse 1 should finished in first place and the 2, 3 or 4 in second for you to win.

BOXING HORSES IN EXOTICS: You can use a box when you are sure that either 2, 3 or 4 horses are the top ones in a given race, but you are not so sure which one of them will finish in either first, second, third or fourth place.

COUPLE HORSES: This is applied in the case of two horses which are competing in the same race and belongs to the same owner or stable. For example, let’s say that you have selected a horse that happens to be part of a coupled pair, horses A and A1, if you picked horse A, but such horse loses, and horse A1 won, you still win the wager.

We hope that this and our previous article has helped you to grasp the different concepts on horse betting in a better way, now it is up to you either to place your bets online or to hit the tracks… Good luck!
