We continuously undergo change in life. Changes begin to happen right from our childhood and they will continue until the end of life. Sometimes these changes are life thrilling eg. getting something that we always aspired but had never hoped we would ever get it, while at times these changes are life altering too eg. Losing our parents in early childhood or a significant loss in business at a very young age.

The primary reason why we are not receptive to change is because we know our present state very well, and over a period of time we have got quite comfortable and closely attached to it. Whereas the changed state is something we do not know how it will shape, as a result of which, we experience emotions of unknown fear, worries, tension or panic in accepting or even attempting that change.

We as human beings are conditioned to live in a comfort zone, where we feel assured and secured. And changes means bringing disturbance to this comfort zone, for which our mind is just not prepared to accept.

However, at every step in life, change is inevitable. So now it is upto us whether we choose to accept, adapt or struggle with the change that takes place.

How do we accept change?

•Understand that change is a part of life. Our mindset to willingly accept change makes us evolve as a person and will help us develop and transform alongside it.

•Changes in life make us stronger. When we grab the opportunity to come out of our comfort zone, it shows our preparedness to cope with tougher times.

•Every situation, be it life-altering too, happens for a good reason, even though it may not seem like it at that point of time.

•Worries, tension, stress are all symptoms that cause further distress. Rather than letting these destructive emotions ride on you, make an attempt to handle the situation with common sense.

•Align your expectations, be realistic and honest with yourself, never expect too much from life and always be prepared for life to suddenly alter anytime.

•Be open-minded to change and find positives from the changed situation.

•Investigate into why you do not like change. Is there some genuine reason or is it merely some unknown fear that is bothering you?

•If there is a something genuinely bothering you and you cannot see a way out of it, talk it through with someone you have regards for and who can help provide a neutral perspective.

•When there is no way out, know that the more you meditate on such issue, the greater the suffering. So, instead accept what is happening and move on in the best way you possibly can.

•When there comes time to accept change, this is an opportunity to understand yourself. You have the chance to discover your weakness and strengths.

Change is the basis of worldly life and therefore we must comply with it, whether we like it or not.

Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, an enlightened being explains:

“Worldly life means it is ever changing. So where is the need for [worrying] ‘this will happen’ or ‘that will happen’? Why have an attachment for that [someone] which shows regards towards you one day and disregard the next?

It is worth having an attachment for an eternal element that remains constant during the three-time span - past, present and future, which is one’s own (real) ‘nature’. And one should have an attachment for the Gnani Purush [the enlightened one] who graces you with the awaren
ess of your Self. Never will a change occur in Him.”

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
