The reason why individuals have not yet discovered their true Self is attributed to the presence of karmic obstructions, which create a veil of ignorance of ‘who am I really’. Every single one of us carries the burden of karmas, which are the accumulated effects of past actions, intentions, and thoughts.
These karmic obstructions are a veil over one’s true Self. They create a false sense of one’s true Self, thus, creating a false association with the body, mind, and speech, thereby obscuring the awareness of the true Self or the Pure Soul.
To help individuals overcome these karmic obstacles and directly experience their true Self. A Gnani, the enlightened being, is needed. This is because he is considered to have the ability to remove the karmic obstacles and the veil of ignorance and give a glimpse of one’s true Self during the Gnan Vidhi ceremony.
So, where does one even begin embarking on this journey of self-discovery?
1. Seek a living Gnani: The first step is to seek a living Gnani, an enlightened being who has the ability to impart knowledge of the Self. The Gnani has spiritual knowledge and experience, which is instrumental in the process of self-discovery.
2. Attend in-person Gnan Vidhi ceremony: The Gnan Vidhi ceremony is a key aspect of Self-discovery. During this ceremony, the Gnani imparts spiritual knowledge of ‘who am I’ and initiates the process of one’s true Self. The ceremony’s key purpose is to awaken the seeker's awareness of their true Self.
3. Experience the separation of the Self from the non-Self: Following the Self-realisation and under the guidance of the Gnani, seekers can experience a separation between their true self (Pure Soul) and the non-self (body, mind, and speech). This awareness helps them experience the everlasting nature of their true Self and differentiate it from the temporary aspects of their existence.
4. Practice awareness of the Self: During their worldly transaction, the seekers make progress through the right understanding of the Self. This involves maintaining the constant awareness of one’s true Self and observing the temporary aspects of the non-self, such as thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, without attachment or abhorrence.
5. Spiritual growth and liberation: With continued awareness and application of the spiritual science of the Self, the effects of karmic accounts start to loosen up and gradually dissolve. This process leads to spiritual growth and liberation from the cycle of birth and death, ultimately allowing the seeker to experience their true nature as the Pure Soul continuously.
Discovering your true Self and dissolving karmic obstacles is not an overnight process. It requires consistent self-awareness, understanding, and application of the Akram science, which is imparted by the Gnani. It's important to note that the process of Self-realisation in Akram Vignan is closely tied to the philosophy and practices specific to this path. If you are inspired and what to know more about discovering your true Self, it is essential to seek guidance from the current touch-bearer of Akram Vignan, Pujya Deepakbhai, to fully grasp and connect in this journey of Self-discovery.
Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
