Many people don't know exactly what meditation is and so doing it seems impossible. Images of people sitting cross-legged and humming may come to mind, but does daily meditation actually have to be like that?

Meditation can be a wonderful way to bring balance, calmness and peace to your day. That sounds wonderful, doesn't it? The catch is that our lives are anything but calm and balanced, so the real challenge of incorporating meditation into your daily life is putting life on hold while you meditate. That means turning off your cell phone, TV, computer and anything else that can be distracting during your meditation.

Finding the time to be quiet and unplugged is the first step. Next, consider using a space that helps you to feel contemplative. You can enhance the area with artifacts or items that have spiritual meaning or even just keep it a comfortable area that is uniquely your own. Begin with short sessions to get into the habit of meditating and build up to twenty minutes or so, if possible. Believing that you can begin to bring change to your life through meditation helps to make it so.

Now you have the time and the place, so now add the meditation piece. This is where people may be unsure of what to do. Consider following your breath as it is evenly going in and out of your body, maybe focus on an icon or a certain item that is important to you or use a guided meditation to set the stage. A guided meditation can assist you in focusing on a certain idea or thought as you work through it and beginners especially may find this helpful. Find the way that seems the most comfortable to you.

Many people begin meditating because they wish to find peace, but others wish for healing of some sort. Meditation can begin that process and can help you become more aware of your body and in tune with its needs, but working with a trained healer may be something you are interested in exploring as well.

Spiritual energy healing can be done in different ways, but allowing your being to be healed on a spiritual level can help heal your physical body as well. Working with a trained energy healer can assist you in gaining the solace and healing that you seek. A healer has been trained to become a vessel in which the healing powers can be focused for the benefit of another person.

In my psychic healing training, I learned about how to help people become whole again, but learning to meditate myself and to help others to be able to meditate is a component of that training. Could you be someone that is well suited for healing work? Are you interested in clairvoyant training?

Meditation can help you to become more attuned to your own gifts and possibly offer some insight. Practicing meditation can help you to begin to heal yourself and once you feel more balance and peace in your life, perhaps healing others could be an option, too.
