• Honey requires lower level of insulin as compare to white sugars.
• It is does not increase blood sugar level as table sugar do.
• Honey has low glycemic index than white sugar.
• The chemical structure of honey explains its extra ordinary sweetness. Natural honey is mostly made of glucose and fructose. Both of these components are easily soluble in sugar at some or other part of the digestion.
• This one to one ratio of glucose and fructose make sure that honey is easily absorbed in liver, thus there are no traces of glucose or fructose in blood circulation. Thus, it can readily control blood sugar level.
• However here it is also important to note that fructose if taken alone is very dangerous for diabetics. Fructose unlike glucose is not soluble in liver. Instead it is stored there in the form of triglycerides, it increases burden on the liver and on the digestive system.
• Honey contain natural sugars that are easily soluble, thus it does not put extra burden on the digestive system.
• Honey contains minimum percentage of dextrose and maximum percentage of laevulose.
• Honey is an excellent substitute for all of the artificial sweeteners, however before including honey in a diabetics diet it is necessary to keep in mind three rules and they are moderation, moderation and moderation.
• Honey prevents acetonomia. It reduces traces of sugar from urine despite of the fact that it contains 75% natural sugar.
• Honey contains vitamins like B1, B6, B12, C and E. almost all of these vitamins are highly recommended for the patients of diabetes. They can maintain their blood glucose level.
• Honey contains all of the nutrients, vitamins as well as minerals along with sugar. Whereas all other sweeteners just contain sugar, no additional nutrient.
