After reading my recent article on Diabetes and Self-Healing, one of our readers told me that although she has diabetes, she believes she is quite adept at fulfilling the spiritual-emotional need behind this condition—acknowledging the sweetness in life. But that realization hadn’t caused her diabetes to go away. This is a significant observation in her journey.

So let’s take a look at this together. If she agrees that diabetes is tied to a psychological desire to experience sweetness without any effort; if she surrenders her need to try to control or make sweetness happen; if she naturally exerts the appropriate effort to experience the true Divine sweetness that already exists within and around her; and the diabetes is still present, clearly something remains unaddressed. So what might that be?

There is a consideration worth exploring. Sometimes the transformation of your body lags behind your consciousness. Your mind and spirit integrated a new belief or perception, but your cells did not. Cells in your body can get stuck in old patterns of behavior. Sometimes you need to help your body along. Your cells may literally need to be told and energetically encouraged to make the shift.

When I’m doing sound medicine for someone, at times I able to see inside the body. Depending on where the person needs my focus, I may see their energy body or I might actually see their physical body. When everything in the energy body is clear, I’m directed to the physical body where I invite the cells to repair. However, if there are strong beliefs, feelings or needs attached to that area of the body, I will be directed to the person’s energy, where I invite those attachments to release.

This can happen anytime during a healing session. For example, the physical body might be ready for some attention at the beginning of the session and as the healing goes deeper, an old and hidden belief might rise to the surface to be addressed before any further physical healing work occurs. Once the emotional/spiritual trauma has been addressed, my attention will again be directed to the physical body.

The energy body usually needs to be clear before the physical body will repair. And in my experience, attention to both fields is required for full and complete healing to occur. When the root of the condition is spiritual and emotional; beliefs, emotions and needs typically must be addressed first. Then the physical body is able to respond to a direct invitation to heal.

That invitation could come from more energy healing focused on the body itself, herbs, affirmations for the body, homeopathic remedies, essential oils, massage, prescription medicine, or any number of healing approaches. So if you believe that your emotions and spirits around any given condition are clear, consider that you might need to give some direct attention to the cells of your body.

One of the wonderful aspects of energy healing is that you don’t have to decide whether you need to attend to the physical body now or later. The energy itself will direct your attention if you allow it to do so. If you don’t have a specific energy healing technique that you use for your self-healing, consider talking to your body. Yep, literally have a chat with your cells. You can draw, write, dance, visualize, sing or dramatize your communication. If you are really adventurous, you can allow this exploration to be a conversation. You don’t even have to be an artist to do this. You just need to allow yourself to go for it.

For example, you could write a letter to your cells expressing to them that you are ready for them to heal. Let them know that you believe applicable emotional and spiritual issues are resolved, and invite them to join you in creating total mental, spiritual and physical health. Then imagine your cells are talking to you and write down what they have to say. Maybe there is some emotional wound inside you that they will bring forward for more complete resolution. Maybe your cells are ready to heal and want a specific kind of support from you.

You might find yourself giving the cells of your body periodic encouraging pep talks. I’m not talking about talks where you try to manipulate or persuade your cells to become completely healthy. And you sure don’t want to whine and whimper as you plead a case. I’m talking about the kind of encouragement that makes you feel good emotionally as you listen. This is where you thank your cells for accepting your invitation to complete wellness. Thank them for becoming healthy. You might speak your gratitude in words or you smile inwardly as you bless the areas of your body needing attention.

Creating wellness is as much an act of creativity as it is the science of healing. Remember that every cell is a little living entity longing for love—your love, to be specific. So find some fun ways to let your cells know how much you love them, and with your love encourage them—remind them—to live in wellness.
