Are you driven in life to achieve and excel? Or do you simply like the idea of being driven and excelling, but to lazy and unfocused to take any real action. Their are habits that separate the winners from the losers and it is best to start adopting some winning strategies if your ever going to achieve the success, freedom and happiness your heart desires.

I had always viewed myself as driven, but unfocused (different from being lazy). What I mean is I knew what I wanted but I was unsure of the steps required to get their. After many years of trial by fire I have come up with a list of 5 habits that will help bring success into your life. You ready? Awesome, lets get into it.

1) Number one, do what you love. Yes this is an old adage that has been dragged out a million times. Of course everyone wants to do things they love. Who wants to do things they do not love? Well then why are you sitting in a cubicle during the day wishing you were outside in the bright sun? Often, we find ourselves in situations that steal the joy from our lives, but we do not know how to go in reverse and start over. To do what you love you must discover your life passion and purpose. Sit down with a pen and paper and write out things you like doing until you find a response that resonate deeply inside you. This may take some time, but do not be lazy about it. Grab a pen and paper, go sit somewhere quite, and do the work.

2) Number two is to have the end, or rather goal in mind. What is the goal of your life purpose? Is it to uplift others through music? Or to eradicate disease or decrease literacy? Decide on a goal, make sure it is a value driven goal. A value driven goal is one where your always acting in accordance with your value to achieve something. For example, you value being taken seriously, so a goal might be to improve your ability to work a room or give public speeches on a subject matter.

3) Number 3 is to work harder than anyone else. Many people just coast through things. You need to adopt the mentality that you are not going to coast but rather you are going to dominate. Develop discipline and dedicate time every week towards achieving your goals (see number 2).

4) Number four is to make use of every moment you have. Time flies and it is better to spend it doing productive things that move you ever so closer to your goals than playing games or watching TV. Yes, always make time decompress and relax a little, but remember to ask yourself: "is their something better I could be doing right now?".

5) Number five is to never stop learning and growing. I continually learn and improve myself to become a subject matter expert through reading, testing, and experimenting. You need to do the same. Remember this saying "adapt or die".

Follow these steps. Internalize a disciplined work ethic, work smart, constantly learn and grow as a person, find your life passion, never give up until you achieve your goal and stay consistent but adapt when need be.
