Fish Oil, Lycopene And Coenzyme Q10 - Avoid And Treat Heart Disease Naturally
Written by Konstantin Eriksen
It is now well established scientifically that concentrated fish oil can help treat and prevent heart disease by lowering triglycerides, lowering bad cholesterol, balancing out dietary saturated fats with healthy omega-3 fats and by keeping blood vessels clear of obstructions.
Are there any other natural substances that can work synergistically with fish oil to further improve heart health? The answer is yes: lycopene and coenzyme Q10.
Lycopene is the pigment that makes tomatoes red. It is also have found in pink grapefruits. Lycopene has been found to eliminate singlet oxygen free radicals. The dangerous free radicals can oxidate the low density lipoprotein (LDL) in the blood, thereby increasing the damage it can do. In fact, the most advanced research on cholesterol shows that it precisely this type of oxidized cholesterol which causes damage to blood vessels.
Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant made in the liver. The human heart beats 100.000 times a day. Without coenzyme Q10 this would be impossible. Coenzyme Q10 actually produces the energy needed for proper rhythmical heart contractions. Coenzyme Q10, just like lycopene, prevention of the oxidation of "bad" cholesterol and decreases plaque buildup in blood vessels. It has also been found to improve the general health level of heart cells.
Statins (cholesterol lowering prescription drugs) block the production of coenzyme Q10 in the liver. For this reason, it is crucial for anybody who is taking statins to also supplement with coenzyme Q10. Paradoxically, it has been found that at a deficiency in coenzyme Q10 can actually cause heart disease. If you are taking statins, then coenzyme Q10 supplements are the only solution.
Personally, after many years of researching the subject, I prefer to take a product that combines all three, concentrated fish oil, lycopene and Q10 in one very potent, pure and cost-effective product.
