Merit Surmounting Demerit:

Prosad: Mother, your "Unraveling of the Mystery of the Universe" indirectly says—whatever we see is bound exclusively by the bonds of natural laws. Things are either well-organized or simply at sixes and sevens—everything is automatic.

Mother: Yes.

Prosad: Then hasn't anybody any role to play?

Mother: No.

Prosad: If we do not accept somebody as God, we become free from fear, things like errors and immoralities come trailing along.

Mother: There is a saying: "None as deaf as those that will not hear." To accept God is a personal choice. Now where does that person come from? Well, according to the power derived.

In course of nature, everything is bound by bonds of laws. Whatever is ordained to happen happens. Whether it is ghost or God—it causes fear. And what that fear is like—it hasn't been so far discovered. There are various kinds of fear. Fear is one if we judge taking all things into account. Then you see, fear is dependent upon the personal factor. There's no such thing as God, or ghost. This is, as it were, 'automatic' creation. You may call it some kind of power.

Prosad: Then it comes to keeping people off from the clutches of misbehavior or immoralities by giving them a fright—"There's rebirth. You see, what wrong you do in this birth, you'll have to suffer for that in the next birth." Do these words restrain people in any way?

Mother: Yes. The words are irrelevant.

Prosad: But just see, you've pulled down everything—"There's nothing, nothing anywhere." Won't this make people reckless?

Mother: Well. If they get reckless, they'll get self-reliant, too. 'Whatever I do is done only in this birth. All the action and reaction which follow from that, I have to undergo in this birth.' Well, everybody will take to this one thing. Then men will understand one stream of truth.

Again, there's another thing you speak about. About giving a fright. It involved both gain and loss. There was as much gain and loss then, as now. Then you could put a man to fright unnecessarily and do the worst possible things to him.

Now say, if you frighten a man, will he necessarily be frightened. He won't be. Again, one who gets frightened is frightened. Then if everything is bound by the bonds of law, all this is nothing.

Again, come to another thing. 'Whether there's rebirth or not', is also dependent on the personal factor. This I say. You can't say, there's 'no rebirth'. I say 'no'. The last word I say, 'No'. But I can't plant this 'No' within you.

Prosad: Now, mother, are you to be blamed like this? As a result of your starting what the primordial truth is, the problems have multiplied. Instead of doing good, you have brought about evil.

Mother: Speak, speak, rightly do you speak. Evil done instead of good. The words are very true. Again very false. irrelevant. Not false but irrelevant. Why?

For, it is good to cut down 'akarh' tree (almost useless one) around a ditch. Once these are cut down, the ditch can be seen. Its hollow, too, can be seen. The water inside is bubbling. Once people see that, they'll come flocking.

They'll fill it up with earth. That'll make some land available. They can run up huts on that bit of land. If nothing is done—no hut raised—some land will be lying fallow. It's much better for lands lying barren –still there shouldn't be allowed to get rubbish accumulated.

What do you do behind the screen? The drop curtain remains hanging. There runs a show. It's better to do without these things. Roll up the curtain. Let everybody see what you are doing.

By thus being bound more by the bonds of convention, they will be rightly hidden from view. They will learn humility. Obedience will come. This is one side of the case. If the curtain is rolled up, they'll come to acquire self-reliance and strength of mind.

Everything is bound by the bonds of laws, once the living being was created, everything was created within him, there was fear there was victory. There was injustice there was justice. All these one after another were made. I speak from my own experience, what I have realized happened like this—as perceived by me.

Author's Bio:

Ma-Mahajnan, a matchless spiritual genius, expressed her entire creation in a state of "Conscious Trance” which has all been stuffed with matters of highly philosophical values and related with strong literary sense. She could not attend even Primary School due to extreme poverty. Strangely, she was taught all by herself in the School of Nature. The weird and wonderful life is possibly the souse of her vast experience and profound realization. She was born on 17 July, 1928 and passed away on 22 January, 2011. The weird and wonderful life of Great Ma-Mahajnan is the source of our inspiration. Her profound realization compiled in more than one hundred of authentic books is far beyond imagination.

Asokananda Prosad, Ma-Mahajnan's first disciple, is an engineer, a philosopher and a philanthropist. Being the missing son—the eldest and the first disciple of Great Ma-Mahajnan, he has had to shoulder so many burdens of Ashram and Temple. He has long been translating Works of Ma-Mahajnan, written in Bengali, into English. The Mother didn’t just put those in black and white, but simply expressed, extempore and spontaneous, in a state of “Conscious Trance” and Asokananda along with his brothers and sisters got those tape-recorded. He now shoulders as: Director of Pub. Div. : Adarsha Prokashani; Editor of Journals : Nandan Kanan & Sudhi Sahitya; General Secretary : Ma-Mahajnan Vishwa Kalyan Trust; Secretary : Society for the Formation of Character and Sequence; Independent Scholar : Philosophy Documentation Center, Ohio, USA; A Leading Philosopher of the World.
