What is Dukan Diet?
In 1970s, Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French general practitioner who specializes in weight management invented a diet plan, which he named by his name Dukan Diet. It is basically planned for weight loss using high-protein, low carbohydrate method. It is riven into four stages.

How this Diet plan works
The most effective way Dukan Diet work is by calculating your goal of losing weight. Depending on your age, weight loss history, and other factors you have to set a goal first. Dukan diet works in four phases and it depends on your aim of weight losing to go into another phase.

The four phases are,
1. Attack Phase
This phase goes on the very first week you start this plan, and continue till you are not losing weight. You have to eat unrestricted lean protein and 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran every day.

2. Cruise Phase
The second phase will start after you complete the first phase while losing some weights. In this phase, you have to take Alternative lean protein a day and the very next day lean protein and non-starchy vegetables. The common things is the oat bran every day but 2 tablespoons.

3. Consolidation Phase
Getting a good feedback from the second phase third phase starts. It will start when you start losing one pound after every five days through the previous two phases. During this phase, your diet plan will be, unrestricted lean protein and veggies, with some carbs and fats, one day of lean protein weekly, 2.5 tablespoons of oat bran daily.

4. Stabilization Phase
At this step you have to follow the Consolidation Phase guidelines as long as your weight remains stable. One change is increase the Oat bran to 3 tablespoons per day.
So, you can see this diet is separated into two weight loss and two preservation phases.

Bottom line: Is it right for you?
As we can see this Dukan diet is one of the effective way to lose weight, but scientifically it has lot of restrictions as well. To complete proper nutrition’s according to our daily need, we cannot have a restricted food items in our daily plan for a long time. For that reason Dukan Diet is perhaps safe for most people, but those with certain medical conditions might avoid this plan. This plan restricts us from various minerals and vitamins, because the food items are restricted. Besides, maintaining such a diet in a proper way will be too much cost effective and not everyone can bear it. Furthermore, the restrictions on high-fat foods may not be best for your health.
On the whole, those who are interested to lose weight very fast they can follow this diet plan, but this plan is not for those who want to maintain a healthy physique. No doubt you will be leaner but maintaining it for a long time may cause you different health issues, because it is surely a quick weight loss diet that works, but it forces you to avoid many healthy foods needlessly. So, it’s on you to decide. If it is necessary for you to get rid of obesity, than go for it, otherwise it is not essential diet for all.
