A full moon and total lunar eclipse in the mutable air sign of Gemini occurs today. This gives me an image in my mind's eye of a person free falling from a plane and finding that the parachute won't open. I see the tarot card of the Magician representing the moon in Gemini. I also see the image of the Fool, from the Tarot, representing the sun in Sagittarius. The full moon in Gemini opposes the sun in the mutable, expansive fire sign of Sagittarius. We can't look at the one side of the coin without considering the other during this full moon.

This paragraph from www.aeclectic.net, ties the Magician and the Fool together:

"Traveling on his way, the Fool first encounters a Magician. Skillful, self-confident, a powerful magus with the infinite as a halo floating above his head, the Magician mesmerizes the Fool. When asked, the Fool gives over his bundled pack and stick to the Magician. Raising his wand to heaven, pointing his finger to Earth, the Magician calls on all powers. Magically, the cloth of the pack unfolds upon the table, revealing its contents.

To the Fool's eyes, it is as if the Magician has created the future with a word. All the possibilities are laid out, all the directions he can take: The cool, airy Sword of intellect and communication, the fiery Wand of passions and ambition, the overflowing Chalice of love and emotions, the solid Pentacle of work, possessions and body.

With these tools, the Fool can create anything, make anything of his life. But here's the question, did the Magician create the tools, or were they already in the pack? Only the Magician knows - and on this mystery, our eloquent mage refuses to say a word.

From Wikipedia, on the Fool:

"The Fool is the spirit in search of experience. He represents the mystical cleverness bereft of reason within us, the childlike ability to tune into the inner workings of the world. The sun shining behind him represents the divine nature of the Fool's wisdom and exuberance, holy madness or 'crazy wisdom'. On his back are all the possessions he might need. In his hand there is a flower, showing his appreciation of beauty. He is frequently accompanied by a dog, sometimes seen as his animal desires, sometimes as the call of the "real world", nipping at his heels and distracting him. He is seemingly unconcerned that he is standing on a precipice, apparently about to step off. One of the keys to the card is the paradigm of the precipice, Zero and the sometimes represented oblivious Fool's near-step into the oblivion (The Void) of the jaws of a crocodile, for example, are all mutually informing polysemy within evocations of the iconography of The Fool. The staff is the offset and complement to the void and this in many traditions represents wisdom and renunciation, e.g. 'danda' (Sanskrit) of a Sanyassin, 'danda' (Sanskrit) is also a punctuation mark with the function analogous to a 'full-stop' which is appropriately termed a period in American English. The Fool is both the beginning and the end, neither and otherwise, betwixt and between, liminal.

The number 0 is a perfect significator for the Fool, as it can become anything when he reaches his destination as in the sense of 'joker's wild'. Zero plus anything equals the same thing. Zero times anything equals zero. Zero is nothing, a lack of hard substance, and as such it may reflect a non-issue or lack of cohesiveness for the subject at hand."

I sense that the total lunar eclipse dancing with the energy of the sun in Sagittarius will bring each of us to our own personal plateau of "zero", free fall, the pause between breaths. I can recall moments in my life of just such complete emptiness, where I totally let go, without any thought of what to choose or what to do, because events and circumstances had brought me to the point of zero. When I simply let go, I felt amazingly free and at peace. Immediately following that freedom came the perfect miracle, manifestation or change in circumstances from "out of the blue".

Gemini is the curious, imaginative thinker and communicator. With a childlike naivety, Gemini believes - or makes believe - that anything is possible. Young children go through a "Why?" phase. It is likely that we will question the "why" of whatever area of our lives the full moon activates. If the answer is anything less than joy or truth, we will want to change the situation. The colors for Gemini are the mentally stimulating, joyful bright yellow and the flashing silver of quick intelligence.

Sagittarius resonates to the color blue, a color of spiritual purity, and is perpetually impulsed to expand and seek - often heading out into the wild blue yonder - and often being judged by others as childlike, immature, irresponsible or foolish. Adventurers, explorers and the upholders of truth are willing to let go of all they have in order to gain something that is a purer, Divine essence. They enter the sea of infinite possibilities without any preconceived ideas or conditions. They may hope for something, but they know there is something bigger at work, of which they are but a small part, and they are curious to see what comes next. That awareness of being a part of something bigger gives Sagittarius blind faith, optimism and excitement to step off the precipice. The child like simplicity, creativity and imagination of Gemini can help to allow for new possibilities without too much clutter or dilution of potential.

We all have Gemini and Sagittarius energy somewhere in our birth chart. Here are the houses, or areas of life, affected by this full moon and eclipse energy for each sun sign. If you know your rising sign, or ascendant, read for that, too. Be prepared to step off a precipice in that area of your life, go beyond previous limitations, or seek the truth. The moon represents emotions, and the sun, self identification or projection. Traditionally, the full moon is a time of culmination. The cycle that was begun under the Sagittarius new moon of November 25 is winding down, but I feel the current Mercury retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius may bring surprises. Have you ever followed a pattern or plan, only to find you have done everything upside down, backwards, or used the wrong materials? The only way to do it correctly is to start all over. You may be coming back to the drawing board now.
