A full moon in the cardinal water sign of Cancer arrives late Sunday evening/early Monday morning. I decided to write about it today, because for all intents and purposes, the energy can be felt and meditated upon today. This morning, the Cancer moon intensifies your emotions as it opposes Pluto in Capricorn. I just received an email from a friend who told me she had an "aha" moment that provided an answer to a question about a block or delay she has been experiencing for some time now. The present water/earth energy of moon in Cancer/Pluto in Capricorn gave me the mental image of a tide coming in, allowing a large ship that had run aground on the sand to return to sea.

Cancer is the first of the intuitive, sensitive, fertile water signs. Each element has three sequential signs and they can be considered from the perspective of self, self and another, self and many. Cancer, being the first in the sequence of Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces is most concerned with self. Cancer rules the 4th house of home, family, nurturing parent (often mother), and psychological foundations. Capricorn is the last sign in the earth sequence of Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign which rules the 10th house of career, reputation and title, standing in the outer world, authority figures, disciplining or controlling parent (often father).

The moon/Pluto opposition this morning may bring an awareness of resistance, blockage, or control issues. It may show you where you must transform, destroy or jettison something or claim your own personal power. It can show you where you must say, "Enough!". By midday, when the moon/Pluto opposition fades, there is a lull. The absence of any major aspects to the moon before it moves into opposition to the sun tonight can help you to identify your feelings and be in observation mode. Your own basic emotional needs versus the expectations of the world is the essence of the full moon energy. The parental symbolism of Cancer/Capricorn can also trigger parental issues for you. Is it time to leave the nest or encourage a child to leave the nest? Is it time for roles to reverse, where the child must now be concerned for the needs of an elderly parent? Or time to clear limiting programs handed down from a parent?

The elements of water and earth are both fertile. The full moon is traditionally a time of culmination. What did you initiate during the last new moon that is ready for harvest? In every ending of a cycle, there is the clearing away for a new beginning. This full moon can point you in the direction of greatest potential. Where should you "plant" or what should you "nurture" and "feed"? Cancer can represent the infant stage of life, and Capricorn, the mature, responsible, adult stage. Are there areas of your life where you are keeping yourself weak, helpless, or allowing yourself to be dependent on others or are you allowing someone else in your life to be dependent on you and shirk their responsibilities? Between the Goldilocks dilemma of too soft or too hard, there is an emotional place of "just right". Use the energy of the full moon in Cancer to find it.
