Hormonal contraceptive methods have made staying protected very easy. Oral contraceptive pills, contraceptive patches and contraceptive rings have become very popular among women. Contraceptive pills are particularly popular among women and are used as regular contraception against unplanned pregnancy. All of these hormonal contraceptive methods consist of artificial female hormones that help in the prevention of pregnancy. The contraceptive pills have been divided into two categories of combined pills and mini pills. This division is carried out based on the hormones that are present in the pill. The combination pills consist of two female hormones while mini pills consist of only one female hormone.

What is Femodene?

Femodene is one of the popularly used combination pills, which has been proven to be almost 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. It consists of ethinylestradiol (artificial oestrogen, 30 micrograms) and gestodene (artificial progesterone, 75 micrograms) as its active ingredients. You are required to take this pill for up to 21 days of your 28 day menstrual cycle. You are then to take a break of 7 days, during which you are likely to have your periods. Apart from protecting you against pregnancy, it can also regulate your periods, reduce menstrual pain, make your periods lighter, improve PMS symptoms and decrease your mood swings.

What is Mercilon?

Mercilon is another of the combination pills that are used widely by women all over the world. It has been proven to be almost 100% effective in protecting women against pregnancy. It consists of ethinylestradiol (artificial oestrogen, 20 micrograms) and desogestrel (artificial progesterone, 0.15 milligrams) as its active ingredients. This pill works in three ways for preventing a woman from getting pregnant. This pill can be taken by women who are 18 years old or above, but should be avoided by those who are pregnant or are breastfeeding. You are required to take this pill for up to 21 days of your 28 day menstrual cycle.

What is Femodette?

What is Ovranette?

Ovranette is one of the most popular combination pills, which is used by women all over the world for preventing unplanned pregnancy. It has been proven to be almost 100% effective in protecting women against pregnancy. Being a combination pill, this pill protects you against pregnancy in three different ways. Firstly it prevents ovulation from occurring so as to prevent an egg from being produced. It then thickens the cervical mucus in your womb so as to stop a sperm from entering into the womb and fertilized an egg. And lastly, it alters the womb lining so that even if an egg is produced and fertilized, it cannot attach and grow further.
