Are you like most people and would totally love the results and the good feelings that come as a result of changing your life? If so, there’s a downside to change – and here it is, despite how much you sincerely want a change, there’s always something that holds you back.

It can be the reluctance to travel down a different path, which is the fear of the unknown. There’s an age old saying that goes something like this, “it’s better to stay with the devil you know, rather than the devil you don’t.”

This is because fear of the unknown can cripple you into not doing anything. Fear can be an invisible chain that keeps you stuck in a rut.

The unknown presents all types of disturbing scenarios we may conjure up in our minds. This is our imagination at work trying to convince us how changing your life should be avoided.

By fantasizing in reverse, we consequently build a case for ourselves to stay with what we know – the familiar, the comfort zone, maintaining the status quo.

If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone. Recognize it is human nature to experience fear and doubt. Fear actually helps to keep us alive and remove us from physical danger, so you don’t want to completely eliminate fear; just the fear that prevents you from achieving the goals you set for yourself.

Here’s a key point to remember. If you truly want to change your life, you’ve got to make the decision and commit to it.

Decide if you are comfortable living the remainder of your life just the way things are. As much as personal development books and programs talk about how we should improve ourselves, some people are authentically happy with things just the way they are.

If this is your situation, make peace with your decision and look for ways to be in gratitude and enjoy your life. If on the other hand, you can’t see yourself living the way you currently are, you are going to have to commit to developing your courage muscle – and yes, it is a muscle. You’ll have to take baby steps to strengthen it.

We may see other people who are doing amazing things, and think that because of their outward confidence they never experience fear. This is the furthest thing from the truth.

Everyone and I mean everyone experiences fear to a certain degree. It’s just that they acknowledge the fear and still take ACTION.

And that’s a key point to keep in mind when you set an intention to change your life. Just accept the fact that you will experience fear. Just remember this phrase: “these boots are made for walking”. Put on your boots and courageously walk through the fear storm.

Continue walking when fear creeps up. Try it the next time the gremlins of fear make an appearance. Acknowledge them, but just put on your boots on and keep walking.

You’ll build that muscle and it will get easier. The fears will still be there, but you’ll know how to get through them.

I think that today is a perfect day to make a decision to elevate your lifestyle and create a business and lifestyle you absolutely love.
