I can neither be seen, sniffed, heard or touched,

yet nothing will be “living” if I get flushed!

... Guess ... Who am I?

Any guess?? Yes, it is the Soul or the Atma!

As a human, we can perceive anything easily if our five senses- smell, touch, hearing, taste, and vision can recognize them. Any object beyond this sensory domain seems unfathomable to normal human beings. And among the plethora of unfathomable phenomena around us, the pinnacle is “Soul.”

Can the Soul be destroyed?

No, never!

The Soul is Eternal

The Soul is an eternal element. It was, it is and it shall always remain.

Whatever we can see with our eyes, all of that is a non-element, it is temporary (will get destroyed). And the Soul is eternal; an element.

~ Param Pujya Dadashri

Since the Soul is an eternal element, it can never be destroyed. There are six such elements and the world is made up of these six elements. These six eternal elements are revolving around one another, constantly changing; and as a result, the phases are arising. It is because of these phases that this world is seen. In this world, only the phases are visible.

The Soul is Permanent

The Soul is permanent and that which is permanent can never be created or destroyed. It is there forever! Birth and death are not of the Soul. The Soul is a permanent element.

Upon death of a living being, the physical body is destroyed, but the Soul remains intact. The Soul is neither born, nor does it ever die. All that we see are different phases of the physical self, such as the phase of old age and the phase of youth come and then are slowly destroyed; but the real Self (the Soul) has always remained the same. So, it is the phase that comes to an end.

The Soul is Indivisible and Indestructible

The soul is an absolute element; it cannot be broken into pieces.

The Soul itself is the Absolute Soul and it is in an elemental form. Therefore, not a single piece of it can be separated; it is entirely whole. Division would create a portion, and it would destroy the element, but that is not how it is. The Soul cannot be divided.

~ Param Pujya Dadashri

The Soul is Subtle

The Soul is so subtle that even if one puts it on fire, it doesn’t get burnt and destroyed! If we move our hand through it, the Soul does not touch our hand. That’s how Soul is! If you place ice on the Soul, it doesn’t become cold; if you pass a sword through it, it doesn’t get cut.

The Soul is Knowledge

The Soul is made up of knowledge.

The soul is in the form of light (of knowledge, and not physical light). Yes, light that needs no place, no support; such is the radiance of the Soul! It can even travel through the mountains; such is this Soul!

The Soul is the Self

Yes, the Soul is what we are. And the ultimate purpose of this precious human life that we have got is to realize this Self. Once we know who are, once we attain Self-Realization, all the problems and sufferings in our life get destroyed forever!

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifested within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able to help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
