The Cajeput Tree also called Melaleuca leucadendra grows in Australia and some of the islands around Australia and now in the US especially in Florida and it’s also known as white tea tree oil. The Cajeput Tree leaves and stems are gathered, fermented and then steam distilled into a very potent and healing oil. The oil smells a little like camphor with flowery overtones.
Cajeput oil is commonly used in combination with eucalyptus and many other flower essential oils and carrier oils. Cajeput oil is used in vaporizers to open up nasal passages, sinuses, and for calming mucus membranes and getting rid of pain, fevers, and it’s also a good expectorant for colds, allergies, and flu symptoms, plus it helps with bronchitis and laryngitis. Adding 20 to 25 drops of Cajeput oil to boiling water and breathing the vapors will open up sinuses and get rid pressure sinus headaches.
Cajeput oil is a good anti-inflammatory agent that helps with pain, swelling, and redness… and it also helps with eczema. Cajeput oil is also used in cosmetics because it’s very good for healing irritated skin and for getting rid of acne… plus it’s also used for making perfumes. As an aromatherapy oil it’s very good for invigorating the mind and getting rid of brain fog. Plus it calms, soothes, and helps with stress, nausea, and anxiety.
Cajeput oil is also a good antibacterial and anti-fungal agent making it great for the skin and for getting rid of oily skin. Adding a few drops of Cajeput oil to water mixed with witch hazel washes away oils and soothes irritated skin. It’s also great for treating cuts, scrapes, and skin wounds. Cajeput oil is also used in inhalers for opening us sinuses and for spreading a wonderful aroma around the house that kills microbes. Plus it also gets rid of free radicals in the air thus helping to create a healthier environment.
Adding a few drops of Cajeput oil to a bath is great for sore muscles and helps with muscle cramps, joint pain, gout and even some nerve pain… and it also helps to fevers and headaches. Cajeput oil like clove oil soothes away toothache pain, oral inflammation, mouth sores, and bad breath. Cajeput oil soothes the GI tract and eliminates gas and bloating… and it also helps to detox the body in general.
In Ayurvedic Medicine in India Cajeput oil is commonly used to treat arthritis, joint pain, rheumatism and other painful conditions. Cajeput Oil contains - Gamma terpineol, myrcene, limonene, alpha pinene, alpha terpinene, beta pinene, cymene, cineole, and many more healing compounds. Cajeput oil works well for treating candida yeast infections and trichomonas vaginal infections.
Cajeput oil is used in vapor rubs, massage oils, cosmetics, soaps, and natural disinfectants, and as a natural wood preservative for termites. Plus it’s also a good flea and mosquito repellent when mixed with neem oil. Cajeput oil is very powerful, so make sure to dilute the full strength oil with a carrier oil… because Cajeput oil by itself can be irritating in high doses.

Keep Cajeput oil in your medicine cabinet and natural first aid kit and this wonderful healing oil will come in handy on many occasions. In fact you will wonder how you ever got along without it. In fact I have friends that use this wonderful healing oil all the time when they come down with colds, viruses, or other ailments that would normally keep people in bed. But with a little bit of Cajeput oil they are up and around and feeling better in no time at all.
