Coffee has been the drink of choice for numerous cultures around the world and across time periods. Nowadays, it seems as if the world can’t quite get going unless it’s had its morning dose of caffeine. However, before you try limiting yourself to just one morning cup, here are five reasons why you should always say yes to a second serving of coffee.

Decreases Depression
According to the American Academy of Neurology, research has found that caffeinated people suffer from depression a lot less than those that avoid the morning jitters entirely. Coincidence? Probably not considering coffee is loaded with healthy antioxidants that protect our cells from cancer causing free radicals.

Increases Workout
The only pre-workout you need to get going is coffee. The caffeine it contains has been shown to keep athletes going longer, gives them the power to complete more reps and otherwise gives them a pump a workout without coffee cannot provide. It may be wise to have those K-Cups, like ones offered by 11th Street Coffee, handy in your gym bag. Next time someone tries to tell you otherwise, drink an extra cup for them.

Fights Fat
Caffeine is what’s known as a stimulant. It puts your body into overdrive. This is why after drinking a cup, you feel more awake and mentally aware. An added benefit to this is it increases your metabolic rate, helping your body burn through extra calories. Over time, it can help you trim off a few extra pounds.

Prevents Cancer
Go ahead and grab that extra K-cup or even invest in bulk orders because as it turns out, coffee is a key fighter of many cancers. Including liver, colon and kidney cancer reduction, it could be considered unhealthy to turn away that second shot of espresso. Researchers also proved that it has no link to other forms of cancer, so drink to your heart’s content.

Protects Your Liver
Did you know that your liver goes bad even without drinking copious amounts of alcohol? Eating bad foods causes what’s known as fatty liver disease, and it’s not pretty. Luckily, coffee staves off the buildup of toxins in your liver, keeping it running at peak efficiency and protecting you from potential liver cancer.

There’s a reason coffee is the top morning beverage across the globe. Complete with health happy benefits keeping us strong and free of debilitating diseases, it almost excuses the fact that two Starbucks can be across the street from one another. Almost.
