The Australian sprinter, Black Caviar has consistently challenged the world class sprinter Hay List and won it with a racing record of 19 wins from 19 races. Her recent feat at the Lightening Stakes witnessed Black Caviar holding onto her pace in a conveniently stalking position right behind the race lead Hay List unless urged towards the final 250 metres. Black Caviar emerged winning against Hay List once more by almost two lengths, keeping Buffering in the third place again by two lengths.
The race has won this impressively fine Australian sprinter her equal win against American horse, Pepper’s Pride with 19 consecutive wins too. According to Black Caviar’s connections, the mare may start next in the Royal Ascot or the Futurity Stakes if Dubai World Cup is not placed onto her season’s racing cards.
Where Black Caviar started from?
Black Caviar by Doomben 10,000 winner, Bel Espirit, out of mare Helsinge, unraced, was foaled in August 2006. Her first victorious race at Flemington in an unlisted race was soon followed by her second debuting season’s win at Caulfield at the Blue Sapphire Stakes with Demerit finishing second.
Black Caviar was soon launched into Group 2 Danehill Stakes, again at Flemington following a short winning stint at the Crockett Stakes. She won the race appending his victories into a gradual winning streak. In January 2010, Black Caviar resumed her career with another Grade2 event, the Australian Stakes after a layoff of almost 4 months due to a chest muscle injury. However, the horse sustained another leg injury and again was moved into a layoff unless she recuperated fully.
Before demolishing a series of Grade 1 events in her four year old season, Black Caviar raced in two Grade 2 races, the Schillaci Stakes and the Schweppes Stakes, both of which she won, against Winter King and Hot Danish respectively.
November 2010, Flemington, Black Caviar won her first Grade 1 event, the Patinack Farm Classic going on to Lightning Stakes against Hay List. She recently re-accomplished the victory at Flemington’s Lightning Stakes, once again against Hay List recently on February 18th. In 2011, Black Caviar also raced the 1200m, Newmarket Handicap, the William Reed Stakes and the T J Smith Stakes followed by BTC Cup. She repeatedly defeated Hay List in four different races including one that they both contended twice leading to a consecutively similar annual race result.
As a five year old, Black Caviar re-attempted her earlier won Grade 1 and 2 tournaments and went on to seamlessly conquer the Schillaci Stakes, the Schweppes, and the Grade 1 Patinack Farm Classics. Along with the Australian Stakes in January this year, Black Caviar has raced the Orr Stakes and the Lightning, she should expected to start next in the Royal Ascot, the Futurity or will fly international for the Dubai World Cup once her racing schedule plans are frozen.
Currently having equalled the Pepper’s Pride record and the Australiasian jointly owned record of 19 wins in three consecutive years by Desert Gold and Gloaming, Black Caviar could soon be treading many other firmly held American records to demolish.
