To create use of this glucose for energy, a hormone named insulin is required. People having DM don’t have sufficient insulin production in their body or the insulin produced isn't used for conversion of glucose into energy. Thanks to this, the glucose levels in the body increases within the blood damaging the blood vessels of significant organs like heart, kidneys, eyes or the system nervous. This may cause complications like heart disease, kidney disease, blindness and might even suffer from stroke.
