Just a few generations ago, few people had to worry about their physical fitness. Life was hard. Without luxuries like cars, elevators, or even washing machines and other labor saving devices, their lives were busy doing all the things we take for granted. Machines didn’t do everything for people back then. The demands of living created enough activity to generate a level of fitness that most people don’t have today.

Technology allows you to have a much easier life at least physically. Lives in general are more sedentary than ever before. All of this sitting has led to increasing health challenges.

It isn’t just adults who are facing a health crisis. Your children are more out of shape than any previous generations. Obesity and Type II Diabetes, which used to be called “adult onset diabetes” because it was only found in adults, are increasingly common.

As a parent, you want to be around for their kids; you don’t want to miss out on graduations and weddings because you died from a health-related illness. Even more than that, you want your children to live long, happy, and healthy lives. Still, the level of fitness of most American families is on a steep decline.

This isn’t actually new. President Eisenhower first recognized that children were less physically fit than the children in Europe and established the President’s Council on Youth Fitness in 1955. The name and format of the program changed with subsequent administrations. First Lady Michelle Obama has taken this on as one of her main projects with a goal of ending childhood obesity.

With all this attention placed on getting fit, you’d think everyone would be healthier. Society has more knowledge about how to be fit. You know it’s important to exercise and eat right. Still, the number of people who are obese in this country continues to rise.

How can a family encourage and even attract physical fitness into their lives amid all this growing evidence that few people are healthy?

You can apply the Law of Attraction (LOA) to help you reach this goal, just as you’d use it to achieve any goal you set your hearts upon.

You know that what you think about is what you attract, so you need to be aware of your thoughts and feelings on the subject. You might find you’re thinking about being unhealthy much more than being healthy. You could then notice that your family members get winded easily, that they’re overweight, and that they enjoy unhealthy food choices.

You might also notice that you have negative thoughts about what it’ll take to become physically fit. You think that it’ll be a lot of work, that you don’t enjoy exercise, that you don’t have time to prepare healthy foods, and that you don’t even know where to begin. It can feel overwhelming.

The good news is that you don’t have to know the entire route, and you certainly can’t get there in one day. So just focus on right now. Start by shifting your thoughts and feelings. Reach for a more appealing thought in just one area.

What feels like a less difficult shift for you? Do you prefer reading about what makes a healthy meal or watching a video on family fitness exercises? Explore different options. Tap into your Internal Guidance System (IGS) and you’ll feel the right direction to head in for your family.

Attracting physical fitness into your life is a great way to apply the Law of Attraction. It’s an on-going process that won’t happen overnight. This gives you the opportunity and freedom to practice and use your tools without the pressure of expecting immediate results.

And as results build over time, you’ll be encouraged and supported by those around you to continue your efforts when you see and feel improvements to everyone’s health.
