If it is true that we do in fact reincarnate, that there are such concepts as past lives, then how many times do we have bodies? How many times can we incarnate, and how many past lives might we experience? There are many suppositions and opinions.

In my research, both with untold numbers of subjects, as well as my own experience, the answer appears to be “Infinite.” And within that infinity lies two subsets—all possible lifetimes, and all probable lifetimes.

It is a common concept that we experience karma—the resulting backlash or benefit from deeds we have done. Frequently referred to in terms of “what goes around comes around.” karma reflects to us the effects of our behavior and attitudes.

Those who believe in karma also seem to think that it can be changed. They assert that when the nature of the deed is improved, so too shall be the reverberating result. If we can improve our karma, how does that work?

While speculation abounds, I would like to present a possible explanation. I will use a diagram with the caveat that the map is not the journey—and so too, the diagram is not the reality of the concept. It serves only as a demonstration.

I believe it is safe to assume that we all have an infinite number of possible lifetimes that we can experience. Keep in mind that just because it is infinite does not mean that it is all.

As we learned in geometry, a circle can have an infinite number of points along its circumference. A second circle can also have an infinite number of points along its own. However, unless these two circles intersect, they are not the same, identical, points. Similarly, each person can have an infinite number of lifetimes and still not have the same lifetime as another person.

The diagram below demonstrates one person’s infinite possibilities. Within that field is a subset of probable lifetimes they will actually consciously experience.

As we grow and change, the subset may move within the field of possibilities to reflect the new and improved subset of probabilities said person will experience.
