Giving up — even once — makes it easier and more acceptable to “just give up” again. When you give up, you damage your self-respect. You heart doesn’t listen to the excuses for quitting which are created by your mind. Your heart knows that when you quit — when you give up — a little piece of your self-esteem dies each time until eventually, there is nothing left. When you want something and go after it, even if you don’t get it, you will at least know you made the effort and knowing you’ve done “something” will boost your self-respect. The biggest regret people ever have when they look back over their life experiences is they didn’t go after something they wanted to have, do, or be. You don’t want to wake up one day and discover you could have had something, achieved a goal, or done something significant, if you just hadn’t given up, do you?
