Many people seem to think that the iTunes store is the only place anyone can buy mp3 downloads, but that is far from true. In fact, there are many stores where the mp3s are sold including the Amazon MP3 store, which I think is a better option for most.
There are a few things about the way the iTunes store is set up that really annoy me, and those are the things that make me want to try Amazon instead.
iTunes Store Negatives
You need the iTunes player to use the iTunes Store easily. I don't like this player because it's a very clumsy program. I prefer to use winamp.
Their files are actually AAC files, not tubidy music files. This may cause some compatibility issues.
Pricing is not very good.
Amazon Store Positives
You can use these mp3s with any type of player. There are no restrictions, no hoops to jump through. The system is very easy to use.
The files are high quality mp3 files. While iTunes has recently increased the quality of the available files there, Amazon has always had high quality files available.
Pricing is far superior. They have a huge selection of mp3 albums for just $ 5 per. Piece! And even beyond these specially priced albums, their usual prices are lower.
