Starts in the bone marrow most blood cancers are also called hematologic cancers. When the abnormal blood cells start growing out of control, interrupting the function of normal blood cells, which fight off infection and produce new blood cells then the condition, is called blood cancer.

Here are three main types of blood cancer:

Leukaemia: It originates in the blood and bone marrow. When the body creates too much abnormal white blood cells and interferes with the bone marrow’s ability to make red blood cells and platelets then the condition is called leukaemia.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma: This type of blood cancer develops in the lymphatic system from cells called lymphocytes this is a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infections.

Hodgkin lymphoma: This type of blood cancer developed in the lymphatic system from cells called lymphocytes. Hodgkin lymphoma is characterized by the presence of an abnormal lymphocyte called the Reed-Sternberg cell.

Multiple myelomas: Begins in the blood’s plasma cells in this, a type of white blood cell made in the bone marrow.

There are many types of cancer and the treatment depends on what kind of cancer you are suffering from. The treatment of ever cancer comes with its own benefits, risks and side effects.

While in some slow-growing blood cancers cases can be managed by taking daily medication, people with faster-growing acute blood cancers may need stronger (intensive) treatments. There is Ayurvedic treatment for cancer in Nagpur, however, all doctors’ recommendation depends on the type of blood cancer you have, your health, and your wishes.

Below is some broad overview of the types of treatment available to people with blood cancer. Since everybody type is different, not all of the information in this section will be relevant to you.

Intensive treatment / high-intensity treatment:

Intensive treatment stands for a powerful method of treatment, usually with strong drugs to try and kill cancer cells or even stop them from spreading.

The main types of intensive treatment for blood cancer include:

Standard-dose or high-dose chemotherapy: This is cell-killing drugs with the aim of killing cancerous cells and stopping them from multiplying.

Stem cell transplant: In this type of treatment, high doses of chemotherapy kill the abnormal cells in your bone marrow or lymph nodes. Then a new blood stem cells injected (either your own or from a donor) through a drip. This procedure is performed so these new stem cells start producing healthy blood cells.

Some types of biological therapy/immunotherapy’s/monoclonal antibodies: In this treatment, you are exposed to drugs that encourage your immune system to fight cancerous cells. This option is also available in Ayurveda cancer hospital.

Radiotherapy: Mostly used in lymphoma this treatment uses high energy rays to kill cancer cells in a particular area.

Surgery: There is some best cancer hospital in Nagpur who also offers this option. However, it is rarely used you may be offered a splenectomy (having your spleen removed).

While some of the above treatments offer the opportunity to control or cure blood cancer, many of them are associated with shorter and longer-term side effects.

Non-intensive / low-intensity treatment

In this type of treatment, with lower-dose chemotherapy, there are usually fewer side effects. While in most cases this, these treatments won’t cure cancer however they may help to keep you in remission or manage your symptoms for a good length of time.

These are the types of lower intensity treatment for blood cancer includes:

Low-dose chemotherapy: This is a cell-killing drug which helps in killing cancerous cells and stopping them from multiplying.

Some biological therapies/immunotherapy/monoclonal antibodies: These drugs encourage your immune system to fight cancerous cells.

These more sensitive treatments may be used over a longer period of time to keep cancer under control.
