And investors and home buyers are all set to purchase the prime properties and apartments in Poonamallee, Chennai. When we mention about the remodeled Chennai in news and magazines, Poonamallee along with Madipakkam, Guindy, Medavakkam, Tambaram and more grab the top spots. Government announces major redevelopment plans for Poonamallee

Becoming the mega region, working professionals (immigrants from other states) and local families have major expectations from this western region as it stretches to the Chennai city. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) is embarking on a massive plan to build affordable housing apartments in Poonamallee. Accentuating on widening the streets and decking up the basic amenities in this region, the government plans to increase safety measures, especially in case of fire.

Further, the Urban Development Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan declared that the state highways department will be working on the existing foot over-bridge (FOB) in Egmore Railway station will be extended to connect Poonamallee High Road. It will integrate various models of suburban train services.

The growth is very fast in these Chennai’s surroundings. A number of industries have been setup and more are expected to come by the end of 2017. The government is also making plans to improve the civic infrastructure by streamlining the electricity connections, sewage networks and water facilities.

Chennai Metro’s Second Phase to Go up to Poonamallee

Yet another reason why realtors, investors and buyers are inclined towards betting their money in villas and apartments in Poonamallee is the extension from Lighthouse to Poonamallee via Vadapalani and Porur. This will ease the congestion in the areas of Virugambakkam and Valasaravakkam on Arcot Road.

In the second phase of Metro rail project in Chennai, there will be a change in the route, which will make the two corridors- Madhavaram to Sholinganallur and Light House to Poonamallee intersect at Alwarthirunagar. As per the State Highways officials, Mount-Poonamallee main road (a 60-feet-wide and 11-kilometers-long stretch) will witness some of the major transformations in terms of safety with the construction of footpath, pedestrian-crossings, median, speed-breakers, reflectors and traffic signals.

Adding to it, in a relief to motorists who use Poonamallee High road for daily commutation, a two-way road will be soon built- the stretch between Gengu Reddy subway point and Ega Theatre junction. Recently, metro rail services have been started for passengers travelling from Tirumangalam to Nehru Park. There will be commercial development on around 1.5 acres land available along Zoo Road that leads to Poonamallee High Road.

Typically, Poonamallee is famous for its rich heritage, interesting places to visit include Siva Temple, Old traditional churches; several popular schools and colleges include St. John’s International Residential School, Arignar Anna Government High School, Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering & technology, Apollo Arts and Science Colle and many others. This opens the doors to various residential apartments in Poonamallee.
