Religion is a factor in dating and relationships. The degree in which you and your partner practice religion will have an affect on the entire relationship. So will your religious beliefs.

It is always nice to have a relationship with God. When you let him be your guide life becomes much easier. It is also nice when you meet a woman who has a relationship with God especially when she has the same beliefs as you. No matter what denomination you are the main thing is not to have religion, but a relationship with God.

The problem is that many times one person or the other does not have a relationship with God. It’s easy when the man and the woman are religious. It is easy when both are not. When one person is and the other isn’t then problems can arise.

As men, we are usually the ones who are not religious. Many of us grow up having religion forced on us and don’t like it. So as we become men and get out from under our parent’s thumb we stop going to church. We still believe in God and call on him in times of need, but are not willing to worship him. Many of us only go to church on Easter Sunday and Christmas.

Then we meet a woman who is religious. She goes to church faithfully. She sings in the choir. She teaches Sunday school. And if she really has a relationship with God this will continue no matter who she is with.

Though this is not the case, many of us feel as though some decisions have to be made. Does she want to spend Sunday’s with us or with God? If she wants to spend Sunday’s with God do we want to spend them with him too? If we don’t want to spend Sunday’s with God do we want to continue with the relationship?

The truth is that nothing should get in the way of a person’s relationship with God. If we as men cannot accept our partner’s relationship with God then we have to move on. As long as she is not righteous and judgmental we need to accept it.

On the other side if you are religious and she is not then she has to accept your relationship with God also. Don’t let anyone put themselves before the Lord. If she does not want you to go to church then this is a problem.

If the two of you practice different religions then each must be respected. There are many people who meet and marry those who practice a different faith. The main thing is that they have a relationship with God.

Don’t let human relationships interfere with relationships with God no matter how one person or the other feels. Each has to respect the others beliefs whether they have a relationship with God or not.

The most important thing is to understand it is not about you and put God first.
