What is the one essential and consistent element of a non-domestic criminal attack that is never discussed or practiced in most martial arts self-defense schools including mine?

A Record Number of Shooting Deaths Already This Year
Before we dive into that, you may have heard that the number of police officers shot and killed in the line of duty so far this year is up 40 percent, putting 2011 on pace to be the deadliest year for officers in decades. 11 officers were shot in one 24-hour period last week including two right here in the Tampa Bay area.

Chivalry is Dead
Combine that with the brutal killings in Tucson and the viral story / video of a group attacking a man in the D.C. Metro and people are becoming afraid. The need for reality, law enforcement, military, and corrections type of training has never been more in demand.

Not only are people afraid but they know that anyone nearby is more apt to videotape the attack than help them stop it. Chivalry is dead. At the DC attack no one stepped up to help but they raise their cell phone cameras to video tape it:

In Tucson and at the DC Metro, that element I mentioned above is a critical factor. It’s the one advantage that a bad guy has that can only be neutralized with real life training; the kind of training that you as a business advertising self defense need to be well versed in…

The Advantage Is..
From street thugs, school shooters, kidnappers, terrorists, bullies and most all other non-domestic violent attacks occur when the attacker chooses. They choose the time, the place, and the method of attack.

“Play Along” Pseudo Self-Defense
Contrast that with a typical martial arts class where everyone partners off and practices escaping a headlock. You know the time the headlock is coming, you are in the place and the instructor has told everyone the method of attack. And, by the way, don’t do it too hard because you don’t want to hurt or discourage your partner.

In today’s world people do not want one-step sparring and the “play along pseudo self-defense” that I was raised on.

Look, I’m all for safety in the classroom (do you remember the ACMA?) but I am becoming more and more about safety in the street. Maybe it’s because I have two young sons and a beautiful wife and their well-being is the world to me.

The Cobra-Defense Revolution
We are all taking the Cobra-Defense program at Chris Suttons school. He will be holding a Cobra-Defense Instructor Certification for Cobra-Defense licensees only on March 5th and 6th. I will be there participating as a student. I also be teaching marketing and business skills at all of the Cobra-Defense seminars as an added bonus.

We’ll have Cobra-Defense Certification Weekends plus quarterly Cobra-Defense teaching, execution, marketing and business seminars for Cobra-Defense members only every quarter to make sure your school is growing.

We have just a few days left for you to become a Founding Member of Cobra-Defense and join at the lowest license fee it will ever be, but this week it ends. If you are going to do this, I suggest you do it now.

At our Cobra-Defense License Site you will learn all about how much revenue Cobra may generate for you and how you can get involved in Cobra-Defense as a licensed school Founding Member for a fraction of that of any other licensed self defense curriculum program. Plus, we have the advantage because this was designed from the ground up to work in a martial arts school to create new revenue that the school would not normally have access to.
