Remembering Aunt Jenny

Aunt Jenny passed away at the age of 95 . Jenny is the older sister of Josephine (The main character in the book "Josephine In Her Words") Josephine passed away a year later @ 92, In 2010 her other sister passed away @102

Aunt Jenny was mom’s friend, counselor, supporter, big sister, and a helper,

As a friend -mom lived with Jenny when she first came here from Italy.

- Aunt Jenny had us over to watch TV when it first came out. We used to go over every Saturday Evening to watch, until we could afford our own

- Aunt Jenny shared her food with mom. She would bring mom blueberries that she picked in the field, produce from her garden, and baked goods for her little sister and her family

As a counselor-

-Aunt Jenny helped mom adjust to America she taught mom how to use the appliances and gadgets she had never seen. Mom was so happy when she got her very own electric mixer

-mom would ask her brother and sisters for their advice on matters ranging from buying necessities to how to earn and save money Aunt Jenny was a big part of that counselor

Jenny as a supporter to Josephine

- Aunt Jenny was one of the sisters that helped mom when she was pregnant with Vincent her first born (They made sure mom did not have to work while carrying Vinny as she had two miscarriages before

- Jenny was on mom’s side when she faced hard times such as the times when two of her sons died in 2003 Jenny helped my mourn her Boy’s Jenny knew how hard it was for mom, as she had one of her Boy’s pass away several years earlier

- Jenny and mom spoke every day, mom not only loved her sister dearly, but respected her for who she was in the world. Jenny was a single mom for 35 years. She kept the family together

Jenny as a helper

- Jenny helped mom on most holiday and festive occasions everything from baking goodies, making meals, and outright helping hands.

- What made Jenny Special to mom was that whenever Mom needed help jenny was there either helping directly or indirectly but always there.

Aunt Jenny’s attributes

- A strong single mom who met life straight on and did what needed to be done to provide for her family

- A great supporter of strong family values. Aunt Jenny hade her children and grandchildren over every Sunday for a great home cooked meal. She encouraged her family to love each other and to stick together

- A Farmer at heart Aunt Jenny loved to garden, in addition to loving it for the pure pleasure, Aunt Jenny saw it as a way to saved money which would allow her to give more to the family

- A woman of strong Christian faith. Jenny may not have been the individual with the strongest faith, but I say you must go quite a distance to find one with more faith.

- A kind and loving person who lived life as a peaceful warrior treating everyone in her path with love and respect.

- A woman of wisdom and common sense who walked her talk

- A humble woman, with dignity and self respect.

- A warm and loving person

Because of the life of Aunt Jenny I am a better person
