This article is about Christmas. You can fondly remember your favorite Christmas. Maybe it was the one when you received that toy that you were dying to get. Maybe it was the one when your grandma and aunt showed up, you haven’t seen them in a very long time. Or, maybe it was the one you received your first bicycle or your very own puppy.
The fact is, some people have a fabulous Christmas and others don’t. There could be a number of factors, the main one being that a special someone is not there with you this year. Another reason might be financially you don’t have the money for presents this year. And yet another reason is because it just seems like the world has gone crazy. We have seen deaths and witnessed riots before our very own eyes. For some, these actions are a daily occurrence. Our heart mourns the loss of those murdered and we pray for peace and non-violence. This precious child was born into this world to remind us of innocence and peace throughout the world. This precious child was born so that we could feel great love and have immeasurable admiration for one another.
But, the REAL reason for Christmas is that a precious child was born. Not just any child, but Jesus. Let me tell you about this precious child. It does not matter if you are religious or not, there is still a meaning that might pertain to you.
You see, this precious child that was born in the desert gave everyone hope. Hope that life would be better and that people would be better. You see, there has always been kindness and meanness in the world. There has been murder, rape, etc., since the beginning of time. But this new hope was that there would be peace and joy again. If you are not in the Christmas spirit you have to ask yourself this question, “Am I still hopeful?”
Let me tell you where to find hope. You will find it in any daycare facility, any school, nursery, or retirement home. Hope is everywhere, your home, your neighbor’s home, churches all over the world. There is always hope. You will find it in the old because they have seen the worst of times and they know that life is not like that now. You will find in our children for they have nothing to compare it to. But you, you have to dig into your soul to find it.
When you look up at the stars at night, think about what a wonderful world this would be without violence. What wonderful place to live where love, compassion, and understanding rule the world. We do have a chance, and we should be learning from one another.
You can teach your children, but in the long run it is up to them if they choose to listen. Live not by word, but by example. Let them see with their own eyes, the goodness not the evil. You can’t help those who have no regard for life, but you can use it as an example of how much you appreciate your life and the lives of others.
This is Christmas! Put your hand over your heart and feel your heart beat. It is not about presents, nor preparing the meal. It is about putting your hand on your; son/daughter, mother/father, or grandchild/grandchildren’s heart and appreciate their gift of life.
There will always be strife, but there will always be hope too. Give your time, your energy and your love this Christmas; this is truly all you need to do.
Today, at this very moment, somewhere in this vast world, a precious child is born, for we are made in his image.
Wishing you the many blessings that Christmas brings, not just today but always.
