Do you know the quote, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten?” A preacher’s wife restated this in a way that made me take notice.

Once again, I woke and channel surfed to the early-morning religious program. A preacher interviewed his wife; and though I’ll insert my preferred word, Spirit, here’s what she said that impressed me.

“If you keep saying what Spirit never said, you’ll keep getting what Spirit never intended.”

What does this have to do with restoring anything? According to my dictionary, restore means to bring back to a former or normal condition, as by repairing, rebuilding, altering, etc.; to put (a person) back in a place, position, rank, etc.; to bring back to health, strength, etc.

As individualized expressions of Spirit (made in Spirit’s likeness), we are energy, potential, beauty, expansiveness, abundance, confidence, creativity, life, love, strength, wisdom, and the list goes on. Our individual expressions of these appear different from that of others because we are unique. We are wise not to judge our path based on its appearance, and wiser still to discover and express our purpose.

What are you ready to restore? What do you say to yourself and others about yourself and your life that Spirit never said that causes you to experience what Spirit never intended for you?

If you’re not living the fullness Spirit says is yours, it’s likely one or more people made statements to you or demonstrated behaviors during your lifetime that instilled limiting beliefs into your subconscious mind. Believing these beliefs were facts may have taken from you your ability to experience and expand your energy, potential, beauty, abundance, and the other aspects listed above.

What you don’t want to do is create additional obstacles by doing the blame game about who did or said what. Nothing they say or do now could restore what was taken from you anyway, if they’re even still alive. Only you can restore what went missing by allowing it back into your life.

You can choose to make a statement: What was taken from me as my birthright from Spirit, I want restored now. Spirit, I open myself to you to reclaim my . . . (list any and every aspect you choose to have restored to you now).

When we’re children, we don’t feel able to block people who impose limiting beliefs on us or infringe on our boundaries. This creates behavior patterns that impact every area of our lives as we grow into adults. If this has been your experience, it’s time to establish boundaries. No one can take your energy unless you allow it. No one can keep you down unless you allow it. No one can keep you from flourishing unless you allow it. Some of the people who do this are in your life now; some are long gone, but you whisper their words to yourself.

I recently interacted with a woman whose health deteriorated in a way that put her in a wheelchair and caused her doctor to tell her she had, at most, eighteen months to live as the incurable infection in her body was going to her brain. She and her husband had planned to RV around the country when they retired. Her husband retired from his job and purchased and fitted an RV for her hospital bed and other needed medical equipment. The plan was to travel for twelve months and then return to their home so she could die there.

Around the eighth month, they were in Sedona, Arizona, and she was failing faster than expected; and she was in pain. Her husband set up an appointment for her with a massage therapist. As the therapist worked on her, she said, “You know, you’re not going to die as soon as you think you are.” The woman laughed and asked, “Yeah? How much is this going to cost me?”

The therapist told her she could recover her health if she eliminated the negativity from her life. The woman said, “You don’t know me. I’m one of the most positive people you’ve ever met.” The therapist replied, “That may be; but I’m telling you you’re carrying a lot of negativity.”

The woman took this to heart and explored where negativity existed in her life. The first thing she did was stop listening to the news (she was an online stock trader who left her television on twenty-four hours a day). She stopped reading newspapers. She considered every person in her life and made a conscious decision to call anyone, including family members, who added only negativity to her experience and tell them why she was no longer going to be in contact with them. Anything and anyone who did not contribute a positive experience for her was no longer allowed space in her life.

As months passed, her health and life were restored to her. She no longer needs hospital equipment. She walks. The incurable infection is “inexplicably” gone from her body. She and her husband just celebrated the fourth year of her rebirth.

What do you want restored in your life? Tell Spirit. Spirit is listening. In fact, Spirit has been patiently waiting for you to become adamant about this. Name it. Claim it. Attract it. Allow it. Go for it.

Allow what Spirit intended for you to be your experience.
