What causes colds sores and fever blisters (oral herpes) in most - but not in everyone? Let me show you, right now, what causes cold sores in 99% of these cases.

What causes cold sores, basically, is the herpes simplex virus. It comes in two varieties - type 1 and type 2. Both create identical sores. Most common is type 1 which is responsible for about 80% of the outbreaks.

The herpes virus, most of your life, is inactive - hiding deep in the nerves, where your facial nerves connect. About a third of those infected will never know they are infected because their body will keep it from activating.

When the herpes simplex virus senses the conditions are right, it will move along your nerve fibers to the surface of your skin. Each virus particle will then enter a cell and force that cell to create virus copies.

As the cells become full of newly created virus, you will notice swelling of the area. When full, the cells are destroyed to release the virus. This is what causes the open sore.

The herpes virus is the root cause of all cold sore, fever blister and oral herpes outbreaks. But what are the right conditions in our body that activates the virus and causes cold sores?

There are a number of things that can cause the virus to activate. Below you will discover the three triggers responsible for 99% of the outbreaks.

1. LOW LEVEL OF IMMUNITY.

The strength of your antibodies determines the level of your immunity to all diseases. For your body to create highly effective antibodies, it needs certain materials.

Building powerful antibodies is dependent on the nutritional value of the food you eat and the vitamin supplements you use.

Frequent cold sore events mean your immune system is too weak to protect you. You should begin eating more vegetables - especially those grown organically. Your best quality nutrients, by far, come from the foods you eat.

Take a high-quality vitamin supplement every day. This alone aids in preventing cold sores for a lot of people. But do not waste your money on those rip-off drug store one or two-a-day pills.

Find a reputable store that specializes in vitamins. They will have the quality products you need. Look for high levels of B and C vitamins. These burn up fast when under stress.

2. ARGININE AND LYSINE NOT WELL BALANCED.

These two essential amino acids (protein fractions) are necessary for your good health. They are also very involved in cold sores, fever blisters and oral herpes.

For the cell to create new particles of herpes simplex virus, it must have ample arginine nearby. Without this one main building-block, virus cannot be created. Thus a cold sore is avoided.

Lysine is not friendly to herpes simplex virus creation. In fact, it is like putting water on a fire. Your cells store both these amino acids in the same area. Space is limited - the more of one protein, the less space for the other.

Flooding your body with lysine by eating high lysine foods will help push arginine out of the cells. Lysine supplements are great for this also. Many people swear by this high lysine treatment for preventing a cold sore.

3. YOUR pH LEVEL IS ON THE ACID SIDE.

To remain in perfect health, your body needs to be on the alkaline side of the pH scale. The pH scale has 14 points. 7 is neutral. Below 7 is acid and above 7 is alkaline.

Your system will usually range between 6.5 to 7.35 pH. Any drop below 7 moves you into the acid range and creates the right conditions for activating the herpes simplex virus and causing cold sores.

The more acid your body, the lower your oxygen levels. This hampers your immune defenses. The herpes simplex virus finds this a perfect environment for activating. Pop - diet or regular - and sugar are acid producing products to avoid.

Cold sores are more frequent in the winter months because of the many acid-producing factors. These include cold temperatures, less outdoor exposure and exercise, lower vegetable intake and drinks like coffee and cocoa.

Keeping you pH balance in the healthy alkaline range is not hard at all. Avoid acid creating food and drink. Eat more green vegetables for the calcium they provide. Also, vitamin stores have great kits for raising you pH level quickly and safely.

What causes cold sores has many answers. I have just given you the big three that will help you determine what causes cold sores in your life.
