Take a deep breath and feel the air flowing in and out of your body. Each breath we take in is new and fresh in this moment. We can’t breathe in the past or the future, only this present moment. So it is with everything we do in our life; it is only happening in this moment.
Every moment of every day is an opportunity to start new again. Starting new means letting go of the past, setting our intention for what we want now in our life, and trusting the future to be full of possibilities that support us. We can let go of anything that doesn’t serve us right now in this moment. It doesn't matter what's happened to us in the past or even what we did yesterday, we can connect to who we really are and what direction we want to move in now. Whether the past was full of regret or bountiful with pleasure, we need to release it in order to create fresh in the moment. Clinging to fond memories, or beating ourselves up for past mistakes will only hold us back from having a wonderful experience here and now with whatever we are doing.
The future is much the same, if we spend our time fretting about tomorrow, rehearsing conversations that may not even take place, or daydreaming about future events, we will miss the opportunity to manifest our desires right here and now. It helps to know what direction we want to go in and to have a vision of the future to propel us forward, but we need to have the majority of our energy in the present, working on our behalf.
When our energy is spread between the past and future we feel depleted today. We need to call it all back and utilize it in our best interest, savoring every moment as if it's all we have, because in reality it is. Each moment is what we make it; it is ripe for discovery and input. We can put whatever thoughts and actions we want in to it and reap whatever richness and rewards we want from it.
INSIGHTS
How much of your time do you spend in the past (rehashing events, regretting mistakes, re-telling your story, clinging to the good old times)? What do you get from doing this? What does it cost you?
How much of your time do you spend in the future (rehearsing, daydreaming, worrying)? Does this hinder or help?
How much time do you spend in the present? What helps you to be more in the present?
INSPIRATION
Imagine releasing and letting go of the past. Not necessarily the memories but any charge or clinging energy associated with them. You could create a symbol for specific events and imagine setting them down, letting them go. Or you could imagine them as pictures that you are releasing out of your space, watching them disappear out in the universe.
Envision, here in the present moment, your ideal future and imagine putting it into a helium balloon. Let the balloon go, and watch it float out into space. Trust that the Universe is there to support you in manifesting your ideal life; all you have to do is let go, allow and receive.
Bring back all of your energy from the past and future by focusing your awareness on the present moment, noticing what is around you; the colors, textures, smells and sounds. Then notice your body, how you feel physically and emotionally. As you go through your day, notice if you are slipping out of the present and just bring yourself back.
