What’s in your someday basket? Today I talked with several different people who all talked about what they were going to do “someday”. By the fourth person, it hit me. I know when today is. I know when yesterday was. I even know when tomorrow will be. But, when is someday? According to the dictionary, someday is “at an indefinite future time.” For far too many, it is an elusive day that may never come. Could someday be the day after my funeral? Could someday be today?

I have things that I want to do… someday. Someday I’m going to fly again. Someday I’m going to renovate our home. Someday I’m going to travel to Africa and to India, China and Nepal. Someday I’m going to speak in front of 50,000 people at once. Someday I’m going to take my parents sailing in the Caribbean. Someday I’m going to write a NY Times bestseller. Someday I’m going to interview Oprah. Someday I’m going to learn to play the fiddle and the banjo. Someday I’m going to….

Go ahead, you finish the sentence. We all have a someday basket where we put some of our dreams, even if it’s only in our minds or more importantly, in our hearts. What’s in your someday basket? No matter what it is, we all have one thing in common- we’re going to do these special things on the same day- someday! What a magical day that will be for the world! Everyone on that day will be fulfilling so many dreams that were put on hold for one reason or another. Life as we know it will change for so many of us. Sounds like an exciting time, no?

Well, here’s the coolest part. We get to choose when someday happens. Let me say that again- We get to choose when someday happens! We can make it some far off, unattainable time, or we can seize the day and make someday happen now. Today. Why not take steps to make someday a reality today?

I went back and looked at the contents of my someday basket. I know I have the power to make these things happen now. I can make someday today! So, I’m booking a flying lesson. I’m researching exotic travel. I’ll book the trip with my parents. I’ll finish my book. I’ll even take a fiddle lesson! Why wouldn’t I do these things now? What do I have to lose, except the opportunity to live my life more fully?

Life is waiting for you. So, what are you waiting for? Join me! Look at what’s in your someday basket and move a few of the things to your DO NOW list. Write and tell me your #1 thing from your someday basket that you’ll plan today. Not someday, but today. Let’s celebrate our success together now, and make “someday” NOW!
