Sharing some more Thoughts/Writings on Peace (Part Two)

To continue (on from Part One)...

I believe to effect change, we ordinary people, have to raise the bar of what we will and will not tolerate - by our leaders and authorities. At a local level, a national level and at international level, as common citizens of planet earth with a shared spirit of humanity (hopefully noble and generous).

We need ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY...and it all starts at a personal level - in our minds with what we will and not accept as our highest standards in our OWN HEARTS. We need a shift in MINDSET - a new way of looking at problems. Focus, not on the problem, but more on possible (and available SOLUTIONS ) and putting them at the centre of your thinking.

I think it was Albert Einstein who said something like:
"The greatest problems of this world can only be solved with a different level of thinking to that which created them. Jesus Christ's message about drawing upon a Higher Level of Consciousness (or thought energy) was the answer to "everything". This 'mode of thinking' was the path to the 'Kingdom of God'... and those wise words regarding the human condition were uttered 2000 years ago - valid, timeless and eternal truths and a guide to the 'principles of living'.
"Nothing is impossible to those who believe" (in life)!

Incidentally, the words 'trust' and 'faith' are the same in the ancient Greek, I "believe"). After that little piece of "obscure and irrelevant" information, back to the point you were trying to make, "rambling" Craig...

"First, there has to be stability and tranquility in the family, before there can be order and peace in the world, so nourish that growth with a sound foundation in our own homes - to be a beacon of hope and light in a sometimes very dark world"
- Craig Lock

"The greatness of a nation lies in the compassion of it's people."
-Inscription at Horse Memorial, Port Elizabeth, South Africa

"Those who seek to conquer other nations by force will only bring further violence."
(or words to that effect)
- rather prophetic words from John F Kennedy

"Through violence you may murder a murderer, but you can't murder
murder. Through violence you may murder a liar, but you can't establish truth. Through violence you may murder a hater, but you can't murder hate. Darkness cannot put out darkness. Only light can do that...
Difficult and painful as it is, we must walk on in the days ahead with
an audacious faith in the future. When our days become dreary with
low-hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in this universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows. Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."
- Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.

"There is only one thing that has power completely, and that is love. Because when a man loves, he seeks no power, and therefore he has power. Only strive for power if it is not at the cost (expense) of other men (people). Power corrupts. You have to be pure and righteous first, before one can attain power. I believe that love is a greater force than power.

Powerful and moving words from that great South African humanitarian, Alan Paton, who wrote the beautiful work 'Cry the Beloved Country' in 1948.

And finally, a similar quotation (or two) on the same theme...

"When the power of love overcomes (or conquers) the love of power, man and the world will at long last know peace."
- adapted slightly from American musician, Jimi Hendrix

"Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire."
- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

"When the world is filled with love, people's hearts are overflowing with hope."

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now,
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me!"
- C. Bailey-Lloyd ("beaut words", thanks Caroline!)

"Blessed are the Peacemakers, because they will accumulate plenty of Frequent Flyer points"

Uplifting, encouraging and empowering people through the power of words and thought energy. Change YOUR world and you change THE world."
